ABUS 70IB/45HB63 KD Solid Brass Weatherproof Padlock Keyed Different with 2-1/2" Stainless Steel Shackle, Blue

I purchased this to add a bit of “protection” against theft of my bike while on the rack. I know it’s easily defeated w/a small pair of bolt cutters, but the object is to make it a little more work than stealing someone else’s bike. I use this to lock one end of my cable to itself, the cable attached to my rack & a pedal. I don’t leave it on while not in use, so it doesn’t get a lot of rain or snow time. It does have a little cap to protect the keyhole from debris & for that it has been working well. When the lock is closed the vertical clearance is about 2.5 inches (63.8mm), open its 3 inches (76.3mm). The height closed is 4.4 inches (112.4mm) open it’s about 5 inches (125.5mm). I’m very happy w/this as a “theft deterrent”.

Seems to be a strong, weather proof lock - we have not had it log enough to tell. We had two that were similar - different manufacturer. One we never locked, which was lucky because it rusted to immobility. The other we will have to cut off - if we ever need to use that gate. The design and materials of this lock suggest it will give years of trouble and rust free service.

Three months outside in rainy South Florida with no signs of rusting at all. Continues to open and close easily, most likely due to the fact that this model is stainless steel Inside and out. It IS much lighter gauge than the old lock that used to keep my 6' step ladder chained down in the back of my open pickup truck, but I guess these locks are only keeping "crimes of opportunity" away, keeping otherwise honest people, honest.Who's going to cut that lock to get a $100 Werner ladder?

As far as I can tell the lock is fine. However, I'm using this lock to padlock a kayak with a cable and I need duplicate keys since the kayak is used by friends and family, as well as ourselves. This ABUS padlock takes a key that no one in my area has key blanks for. I tried Lowe's, a locksmith in New Hampshire, and a locksmith in a Boston suburb. None could make duplicate keys. Luckily, the Boston area locksmith, after much research, has found the blank online and will order them to make me duplicates.I've never experienced this problem with a padlock before, so I have to give the product 3 stars since it's created so much extra work for me.

This is an excellent lock for any outdoor use. One of the smoothest mechanisms I have ever used. Key blanks are very difficult to find in the U.S. so contact the number that comes with the lock and get a couple of extra blanks and have them cut locally so you have some extra keys just in case. I am very happy with mine.

To lock See-Doo to my Candock.Ordered in April and has already rusted and cannot lock.Tried to unlock with WD40 and still does not work.Junk!Do not waste your money.

So far this has been a great lock for my gate. The u part is not quite 3 inches long when locked but is covered in a coating to keep water from getting into the lock itself. The whole lock is 5 inches long and there is a cap where the key is inserted, again to keep dirt and water out. It can also be locked without inserting the key again. Hope it last us a long time!
