Bring It On Home... The Soul Classics

The title of this CD says it all. A beautiful classic of the best songs ever written and sung by the original artist and how Aaron brought it home with his unique style. This is one of the best recordings I have purchased. Every track is good.👍

This is a great collection of soul/r&b standards. I've listened to them since they first came out,and have played them all in various bands for the past 40 years. The overall impression ofthis CD is one of Easy Listening, mood music (almost Muzak), maybe for turning down the lamps, lightinga candle and making out with your significant other. Your first clue should be "featuring Chris Bottiand David Sanborn," two in steady rotation on the Soft jazz channels. Strangely, "Dock Of TheBay" rocks harder than the original, and "Respect Yourself" tugs at the soul (but then, theincomparable Mavis Staples shares vocals with Aaron... nuff said.) Most of the others have beencovered better by too many artists to list. These versions have been smoothed out so muchthat there are no peaks or valleys, just a middle-of-the-road plateau.

The music on this cd touched into some of my painful experiences with familiar songs that opened the door to a movement of hope and grace. His voice can send goosebumps up anyones arms.

is Neville's voice. I recently saw him at a local venue, where he performed a lot of the music on this fine CD. I hadn't purchased any Neville music since his great jazz memories album, "Nature Boy" -- but I went right out and bought this. Neville's not afraid to remake Sam Cooke or Percy Sledge, and his take on "Stand By Me" and with Chris Botti's trumpet on a new mix for "Rainy Night In Georgia" permeate your thoughts and just about make you forget the originals. Neville did this CD as a tribute to Katrina victims, and his own family's difficulties as the result of the storm. A consummate performer, with a voice that just doesn't quit, Neville is even more at home with sould classics than he is with gospel or jazz. Run, don't walk, to buy this CD!

I like it , I really do. seems like some of the soul has been replaced with slick production though. please no haters, I love all the Neville bros. and the lord knows we need more music makers like them. very good singing but a little on the slick side.

I expected this album to be good, only because I really love the song Tell It Like It Is, which was the only thing that I had by Aaron Neville, well I was not disapointed, his voice is fantastic, my problem now is which album of his do I buy next, not a bad problem to have.

Excellent, amazing voice.

This album has a fantastic mix of songs - anyone new to Aaron would do well to get this one, it's an excellent introduction to his beautiful, haunting and lyrical voice which reaches notes others can only dream of.I was lucky enough to go to the New Orleans Jazz Fest in 2010 and saw him live - gobsmackingly amazing!

Well known songs. Easy listening, beautifull colour of his voice, clear sound.
