Purchased this for my 8yr old granddaughter who has recently become obsessed with magic tricks. Directions were simple enough for her to learn the tricks on her own, and the quality of the items was good

Gifted this to my 8 year old who has been talking about magic sets for a few months and she was kind of upset because the directions were difficult to follow. I think the directions are more geared toward older children like 12 +. My 10 year old was having a hard time following the directions as well but not impossible. The videos that come with the set online are not very good and not everything has a video. Some tricks say they have videos with them but they don't. The quality of the materials are just okay, not very good. It's a good starter set, the only thing that I liked about this set are the card tricks because those were easier to follow and the cards are good quality.

This is a great set for your beginning magician. This kit does come a variety of tricks and the instructions are easy to follow.

I am a big kid at heart and I have always enjoyed magic. Back when I was a kid I could only pick up a few tricks at a time but this kit boasts 200 tricks. I haven't performed the full 200 tricks yet but what I have tried has worked well and has been very entertaining. Please understand when you buy this kit that it is designed to give children and teens a love for the art of magic, or sleight of hand. This is not intended to be the kit of a professional magician. The parts are basically plastic in most cases whereas a professional kit would have items of wood, glass, and metal. That doesn't mean that as an adult you can't have fun with this. I sure am. It is well laid out and the instructions are clear. You WILL learned the basics of magic with this kit and manage to amaze your friends. The kit comes with three booklets. Booklet 1 and Booklet 2 are entitled "200 TRICKS MAGIC ONYX EDITION. In these booklets the tricks are numbered and laid out. Inside the cover is a forward section for the parents to read and an introduction called "Learning the Art of Magic." On this page you are taught how you should perform magic tricks in general, the rules, guidelines and proper etiquette. Each trick has a "star" rating of one through three stars based on the difficulty and the amount of practice required before hand. The third booklet is entitled "SVENGALI CARDS." That booklet is devoted entirely to learning the card tricks in the kit. I was going to attach a picture of the inside of the kit but decided that it might give some hints as to how the tricks are performed and conceivably spoil some of the fun. Christmas or a (big or little) kid's birthday is on the way and, in my opinion, this is a fun way to do something a little different as far as gifts go. I am contemplating giving one of these as a gift because based on my experience with this magic kit, it is great for sharpening the mind and developing hand/eye coordination. I was surprised at what a tool this magic kit was in the development of coordination although in retrospect, this should have been obvious to me.

Package damaged. Expensive, I was very dissatisfied especially as it was a Christmas for a member of my family.I was actually embarrassed when they opened the box
