Caetano: Definitive Collection

Don't remember where I first heard of Caetano; probably in conjunction with music from a video, but I'm certainly glad I pursued him. For years he has thrilled with choices and interpretations of varied music styles and never disappoints.

And this is why they are my friend. Some great music from a very under-appreciated artist. This is a two disc, 40 song set - and no filler (my opinion).It is hard to say which are my favorites as, to me, all the songs are solid. Great musicianship, good production and writing. But here it goes, my favorites: Haiti, Superbacana, The Empty Boat, Mora Na Filosofia, Neolithic Man, Help, Menino Do Rio, Sampa, Terra, Coisa Mais Linda, Podres Poderes, 13 de Maio and Minhas Lagrimas.

Caetano Veloso's "Definitive Collection" has the most beautiful music. The artist is very gifted in his singing and the arrangements are awesome.. I would recommend this amazing CD to everyone.

I had bought this CD for myself and I liked it so much so that I have now bought it for a present. It gives you an excellent overview of Veloso's career as it contains all his greatest hits starting from his early career up to date. This is the most comprehensive colleaction of his song I have come across.The accompanying leaflet is a bit thin about information for each of the songs but the recordings are great and they emphasise the fact that Veloso is one of the finest songwriters around!I thoroughly recommend the CD!

Having left Brazil 27 years ago, I lost contact with the more recent Brazilian popular musics, composers, singers, etcAs Caetano Veloso is my favourite Brazilian composer, decided to buy a collection with his older and newer songs. Being Brazilian, the older songs mean much more to me, but it was nice to see how Caetano continues to be versitile, diverse and still in his own way revolutionary."Sampa" is one of my favourite Caetano's songs as I am from Sao Paulo. "London, London" is also special as I am a Brazilian living in London. But so many other brilliant songs, many with the contagious Brazilian samba or 'batucada' rhythm.As we say in Brazil; "Recorar e' viver", which means, "Remembering is living". Listening to Caetano to me is to experience being in Brazil, feeling Brazilian again". Priceless.

40 Songs, over 2 hours 40 minutes of one of the outstanding talents in World Music. I don't speak a word of Portuguese but that doesn't matter a great deal (though a few are sung in English). Some of my favourites, for what it's worth, Beleza Pure, Queixa, Mora Na Filosofia, Terra..

This is a fine recording of one of Brazil's most famous modern singers.I liked it very much.
