Really nice
These are just as nice as the Polychromos from Faber Castell, they feel the same when drawing.

Great Pencils.
Very good quality, not as pigmented as I would have liked but for the most part definitely worth buying.

Very good and little known pencil.
Love these pencils. They are a hidden treasure. I took a leap and got them instead of a more known brand. I use them for drawing and they make nice lines and hold a good point. You can also use them for colouring as they are soft enough but never break on me. They don't get wax bloom though as the cores might be oil-based. Very worth the money and my only wish is that they sold them in more colours. I don't know if they are lightfast but I only use it in my sketchbook and to travel with.

So nice
I wasn’t expecting much with these and was in shock. They go toe to toe with my FC Polychromos. I absolutely love them. The price is definitely worth it!

These pencils are awesome
Oh my, I can't say enough about how wonderful the Mitsubishi polycolor pencils are. They are just as good as Prismacolor Premier pencils. The colors are vibrant, the cores are soft and smooth, plus they sharpen well. I will buy these again and again when needed.

Missing critical colors, blend poorly so difficult to get missing colors. Dry, scratchy
With Mitsubishi Pencil Company (MPC from now on) ,the products I have purchased have varied greatly. I was unable to determine whether there are more than one companies by that name, which seems unlikely as name is undoubtedly trademarked, but MPC is at minimum the parent company of numerous lines of colored pencils. Some are intended for schools and younger children and are not considered here. This MPC Polycolor is an oil based colored pencil. While in general oil does not blend as well as wax, I have found that most pencils have a bit of both and the largest percentage is listed as the type. The pencils are dry and scratchy. They blend very poorly even with adding "wax" with a blender like the Caran d'Ache Full Blender. I also tryed the solvent Gamisol (odorless mineral spirits) and that worked best. The MPC also has the UniPosca Colored pencil which is a rebranding and packaging of the discontinued Pericia colored pencil. That is also an oil based pencil. It however is super creamy, blends fabulously and while only available in 36 colors, you are able to obtain most colors through blending. I admit to purchasing this set to see how it compares. It can't touch the quality of the UniPosca/Pericia by MPC.Depending on what you do, these colors may not work for you. I like portraits so pink, peach, biege, tan, umber and other skin tone colors are critical. This set doesnt have a pale pink. Even the pencil called Pink is a deeper darker shade of pink. There is onesomewhat Peachy color. It is called Light Orange (which is also what the UniPosca line calls their peach toned pencil.) There are six browns all of them pretty dark. The umber is called Umber Red and doesn't look like what I think an umber shade should but rather more like a mahogany or chestnut brown. There are a bunch of greens (6) and reds (4). There are three yellows from a paler lemon to a chrome yellow. There is only 1 orange. In the purple shades there are 4 pencils. Two greys, a white and black finish up the set. It is lacking Sepia which I use a lot in shadows and in hair. The Polycolor reminds me of the MPC pencils which come in the neat cases with a less fancy barrel. The barrels have the companies names in Gold Script. It also has the color name and number. The Polycolors are in the 7500 class. I don't think these are available open stock. As they are relatively inexpensive, averaging about $1.00 per pencil, purchasing the entire set when yours get used isn't as painful as it would be with a set of 100!. The pencil barrels are colored to match the lead. The end is open like the Prismacolor Premier Pencils. This MPC pencil comes in a plain tin unlike many of the Japanese made pencils which come in unique custom cases. I will end up putting mine in a case with other pencils as I can't see this set being used without the addition of other pencils. They seem to hold a point well so perhaps I can use them for detail work or for elements other than portraits. I wish MPC had a more informative web site. Even after translated, information on all the different makes of MPC colored pencils is difficult to piece together.
