A light-hearted book that tells you to be your original self (NO SPOILERS)
The book directly starts with the main plot: Quinn's journal goes missing. Quinn always depended on her journal and thought the journal made her who she was and believed in all the illusions she made for herself. But when a person starts blackmailing her, she is forced to come out of her shell and face her fears.I loved all the main characters. Be it the insecure Quinn, the caring Carter, Auden and Olivia. The pacing of the book is perfect and I finished the book in two days. The progress is good, one by one, Quinn with the help of her "new" friends starts facing her fears and in the process uncovers the parts of herself she didn't know they existed. The light comic scenes, the subtle romance, family issues, racism issues, studies and futures are well explored. By the end of the book, we see a completely transformed Quinn whose situations get way better after completing the list. The whole book focuses on one point: the joy of being your most authentic self and embracing your flaws. It's a very good book, a must read which will leave you with a smile on your face.

Good read.
The ploat is simple were the writer gives you an emotional roller coster. There are lots of emotions in the book. Of you are someone who journals every thing you were not able to express, the book is at its best.

A coming of age novel dealing with socially relevant issues!
Trigger Warning: Racism, Blackmail, Gender Issues and Cyber Bullying. It’s a wonder; that just when I reach my third decade is EXACTLY when I start enjoying the coming of age, emotional and at times fluffy YA RomancesExcuse Me While I Ugly Cry is just one of those cute, fluffy yet somehow quite an impactful coming of age young adult romance that I would definitely recommend.Quinn, a black girl in a predominantly white private school, like all the high schoolers, is full of anxiety and yet little hope. There’s a reason for that - her parents and all her classmates think that she is going to Columbia University, when she in fact forged her letter of acceptance. She isn’t talking to one of her best friends after an incident at a party. And she is in love with her other best friend. So what does she do to handle the anxiety from all this? She writes in her faithful journal; making lists of.. well everything. But when Carter, a fellow black classmate makes her face her some very uncomfortable truths about not only herself, but her privilege as well; it is something that she can’t ignore. Especially when her personal journal, the one that was last seen in the custody of Carter, is being used to blackmail her.Not knowing whom to trust, it is Carter she turns to - to solve the mystery of who has her journal. But while they solve that, Quinn also finds herself on a journey to understand herself far better, accepting her and other’s flaws and most importantly, not just owning up to her mistakes but also understanding the reasons as why she took the decisions she did.Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry is a relevant read, no matter what the reader’s age, and is a wonderfully character driven novel that will have you reminiscing the moment you close the book.

Beautiful debut romance novel
Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry" by Jordan Cobb is a story about a girl named Quinn, who is an overly enthusiastic list-maker, who is blackmailed into completing her to-do list of worst night mares ever.Quinn is in desperate need to find her journal, before all her deepest secrets come out before the world. She pairs up with Carter Bennett. The last person to have been found with the journal as well as her secret crush since the longest time. This book was such a great and warm read for me. I absolutely enjoyed the author's execution, writing style as well as the character building was great at many levels. I liked Quinn's and Carter's chemistry. The audiobook narration for this one was top notch.

Cute , but bit boring!
Umm , Excuse me , this book is bit boring. This book follows Quinn, who is kinda Rich , akward teenager ,who is lost without her journal. The book started pretty well , but I never felt connected to the story. The MC felt like one track minded and was bit annoying. It didn't show much of side characters , like I would have love to see more of Matt!! As for Carter he was fine , and the romance was cute! It deals with lot of important topics like Parental Pressure , Cyber Bulling , Racism. The story behind the blackmail was way too predictable and anticlamatic , to be frank. The only person I like in this whole book was Olivia , she was my ray of sunshine. The book cover is so pretty , but the story felt flat and boring. Though I think I will try making list and journaling, it looks fun!!
