Allied Tools 49033 51-Piece Automotive Tool Set

Bought the original 92 pc. set many years back. It turned out to be very robust and well made (back in 2010) and served well for many years.Finally, the box broke and some pieces were missing, so wanted to buy the same again.Surprise - now it's a Allied mock-of, called "Harvest Forgery by Allied" or similar - changed box design (pieces all rattle around in the box, very sloppy fit), redesigned (==much cheaper) ratches - all in all, now typical Harbor-Freight quality at a far too steep price. Had to return.

My desire was a good selection of bits, and a screwdriver that would handle household repairs. ( not intended for serious construction etc.) Having found plenty of "good but not enough bits" and at least one "Plenty of bits, but I wouldn't own it, let alone gift it", I found this.This is just what I was looking for. The driver itself is nothing to write home about, but it is ratcheting and will do the job. The bits are plentiful, and well organized. The case is small, and would fit great in a kitchen drawer, allowing the user to grab and go. It comes with torx, phillips, standard, etc. bits: also, metric and SAE socket bits, which are way useful for assembling anything with bolts and nuts. That's one of the big reasons I went for this kit. My young friend will have a good, complete, beginners kit for their home, without breaking the bank. And all in a nicely laid out, neatly labeled box. I liked the overall concept so well ( and at a fine price) that I bought 2 more: one for my car 'emergency' tool kit, and one for my junk drawer. I have several pricey screwdrivers that I use for heavy-duty DIY (plumbing, electrical, etc.) but this is the one that I grab for basic household repairs, because of the huge bit selection. My Mega-Pro is great, but it doesn't have sockets. While this will never replace a serious set of tools, it will serve my friend well for its purpose. Cheap, but good. (I bought it for $12 dollars; worth it at that price, but I don't think I would buy it for much more than that).Cons: Like many plastic cases where the 'hinge' is plastic, I expect that someday this case will tear, making the case a paperweight. But I suspect that is many years down the line, and the kit will be perfectly good in the meantime. The only other 'con' is, you can't just throw this into a tool kit like a basic 7-in-1 screwdriver, but I wanted the extra bits so that's less of a 'con' and more of a 'nothing is perfect' sort of thing.

Something that needs to be kept in mind with tool sets like these - they are NOT tools you would expect to use every day or depend on for a skilled trade. I have had this set or ones very similar for years to carry in the vehicles to have in an emergency or infrequent use. It's great for a motorhome where space and weight are limited. Still when at the house, it gets frequent use due to its portability.

This set is of really good quality. I've had it several months, & used it quite a bit already. No excess play or sloppiness noticed. Sockets snap on & off super easy. Just a very high quality, very complete basic set of tools you'll be pulling out again & again. The pieces stay in place, just like they're supposed to. I've already dropped mine quite a distance, & dreaded opening the case, but was pleasantly surprised to see not one tool was dislodged. There's standard & metric, with repeats of some of your most common sizes, & many deep wells too. Hey, it ain't Snap-On, but it ain't bad. It doesn't come with their mortgage, either! Can't miss with this!Now that I've used these a couple years, I wanted to pass along how glad I am I bought them. I use these tools on a regular, but not daily, basis. I still have every one of them, thanks to the well-fitting case. They all still work just fine.Update: 9 years old and good as new. Am missing 1 socket, which bothers me. That's why you don't lend out your tools. Other than that, it was an excellent purchase. I am reviewing the 92 pc. set, which is a quality set.

Great little set to use with your cordless drill and you will be surprised how long they last. I bought my first Allied set which was a little larger and different than this about 25 years ago and used it repairing lawn equipment and I just decided after the screwdriver ratchet part broke to buy two new sets and they are great! For the price you can't beat them.

This is the third set that I have bought, it is a great all purpose tool and the ability to position it at different angles and the ratcheting ability makes this a very useful tool along with the excellent selection of different tips. I have bought sets to be available in different work locations and it is surprisingly strong.

This is my second purchase of this tool set. It ihas a nice assortment of commonly used screwdriver bits (phillips, straight, torx, square) with a basic selection of small 1/4 inch drive sockets. The driver/handle swivels so you can get into tight spots. I have a set in each of my vehicles. Handy to have.

Los materiales se ven muy economicos pero cumplen con su función, no he tenido problema para ningun trabajo muy buena compra, lo adquirí en descuento tardo algo de tiempo en llegar

La calidad de los materiales es baja, pero por el precio es práctico realmente es el juego de herramientas que traigo en el auto, me a sacado de apuros

Great little toolbox. The driver is not ideal for the smaller tips and it easily can twist and turn on its side, but it is absolutely great for sockets!
