Buyer beware - Refurbished for a reason
As a big "Shark" fan of past equipment I was extremely interested in the promise of "automatic" vacuuming of our condo - but put off by the $600.00+ price tag, so I opted for the refurbished version. After arrival and set-up, which was a little cumbersome, I was initially with the robot vacuum, as it worked throughout the condo. However, that initial positive perspective changed after each use - due to continual false "stops" due to the device sensing something blocking the bottom of the machine. I tried repositioning the device after inspecting the unit to insure there were no obstructions and the complete robot and discharge areas were clean. No amount of cleaning or repositioning proved effective and continually babysitting the unit completely defeated the initial purpose of purchasing the unit. Apparently, the unit had a sensor problem that became worse with use and may have been the reason for the initial return. No replacement is available from the vendor (Woot) so it will be returned for credit.

Not good with dog hair
We bought this to try an manage the hair our German Shepherd dog sheds. We find small amounts of hair throughout the house. We thought by running the vacuum each day this would keep the amount of hair from accumulating. The Shark would gather the small amount of hair, but it would get in the rollers. As it went on, collecting more and more hair, it would tightly wind the hair into one single ball until the unit had to stop because of an obstruction. This happened several times on the initial run. I thought the issue would stop once the vacuum got more into a maintenance role. The next day, it happened again cleaning areas done just the day before with very little pet hair.Overall ProFor a vacuum, it is very quitEmptying the base was easyOverall ConThe self cleaning brush does not workDoes not handle pet hair very wellCould not make the transition from tile to a 1" tall area rug

My floors have never been this clean
We love "Harry". We have two large, shedding dogs and it was a battle keeping our hardwood floors clean. No "dog hair" vacume ever fully removed the small fine hairs. I have a large home and found myself vacuuming several times a day just to turn around and still see dog hair. The Shark IQ is amazing. We can run it several times a day if needed with no effort on our part and our floors are dog hair free.I will add that it does clog usually once per round. We have a golden retriever who sheds tumbleweeds and those can get caught up in the roller. The unit is easy to unclog and then just gets back to job of cleaning. Minor inconvenience.

Final decision made... update...
Update to my previous review: After all the trial we decided to return the vacuum. Why? It did not do anything as it was described.Cons:Battery life was horrible (about 2 hrs)It did not return to base on its own to recharge, just dies in the middle of the houseIt did return 1-2 times to base to empty itself but that is itIt kept on wanting to vacuum same area over and over again, leaving other part of the house dirtyPro:It did do a good job with the dog hair (5 dogs and 2 cats in house) and it was easy to clean it out.So we had the Shark for about 3 days. We started using it from day one to see how will it perform with our 5 dog and 2 cat household. Surprisingly that was managed by Shark as expected. But than what it didn't do is the troubling part. It never returns to its base on it own. Low battery or full, doesn't matter. This Shark just dies in the middle of the house and have to be put back on base manually. It also seem to be favoring one very small room in the whole house. My sitting room has been cleaned over and over and over again, while it failed to visit any other parts of the house if not placed there. Battery life is not even close to what I would expect. The batter last for about 3-4 hours. This is a problem for us, especially since it won't go back to base to recharge on its own, so I never come home to a clean house, which was one of the reasons we got the Shark. The mapping seems to be useless, since as I mentioned mapped or not, it seem to want to start with the same room and stay there forever. Today we placed it away from the sitting room, but in a matter of 10 minutes it was back in the sitting room. So at this time we are still not convinced on this robot and we will have to see if we decide to keep it or not.

Robot works well, Android app leaves much to be desired
The robot itself does its job well and the selfemptying bin is great to have. The bin has a couple of particle filters to keep it from blowing dust particles back at into the air.The main critisms is with the Android app to control it. The robot itself only has 2 buttons, clean and dock. The app is required to control the suction power. The app is slow, it restarts from scratch everytime you open it, and it can take several seconds to load each page. The map section doesn't allow customizing the names of each room, you can only selection from a set of provided names, which doesn't exactly match my preferences. Despite telling the robot several times to only clean my master bedroom, it seems to want to do a full house cleaning and never goes directly to the master bedroom. There doesn't appear to be any form of virtual walls, so you have to use the provided floor strips to prevent the robot from going to certain locations. Which is a shame as many other smart navigation robots have this feature within the app itself.
