Tokyo Ever After

All fun and feminist!
So, after I struggled and finished "Destination Wedding", another book on "self-discovery" where an American woman of colour travels to her home country, wondering if she'll ever fit in, falls in love in the process, and decides to stay back (apparently for no reason, because the plot was extremely weak), I began to read "Tokyo Ever After" which surprisingly has a similar story, only a hundred thousand times more interesting and enjoyable, with a very intelligent and relatable protagonist."Tokyo Ever After" is one of those stories that you simply cannot get enough of. You simply do not want it to end. Set in 2021, Izumi's story inspires conversation on different cultures, elitism, racism, freedom of expression, sexism, casual sexual harassment, identity crisis, and underrepresention of minorities in art, to name but a few social issues that command our attention. And the writing is soo good! The humour is SPOT ON and I was laughing my a** off the entire time! She captured the Gen Z mood pretty well! And Japan. Oh Japan! I've always wanted to visit and now I want it even more. I don't think anyone could have represented the country with more honesty and respect than how Ms. Emiko Jean did. The characters are so individualistic and have their own quirks. And that twist in the end? I SAW IT COMING! I'm getting better - so better - at predicting these twisted endings! All in all, it was a DELICIOUS read. I wish they make it into a movie, it would fare so well!

Love it<3
This is book literally gave what its supposed to give . I generally love reading about royal & princess themed books. This banter in this book>>>.The romance in this book is not cringey at all , it's super cute. The vibes are immaculate & the way author describes everything in royality is just pure bliss . I love it & can't wait for the second book 🖤

The packaging could improve
The packaging was not the best and when I opened the book I saw these dark spots inside but otherwise everything else is okay.

An entertaining Read!
It's been a very very long while since I had the time to pick up a book and finish it entirely. This one was an easy read. It is clichéd but sometimes that's good too! Finished all of it in a day and really enjoyed the way the Author has written it ❤️

All hail her royal highness Izumi Tanaka
okay y'all, let me tell you why you should read it?• Asian Representation• A very relatable main character, trust me• Enemies-To-Lovers• You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll get angry, you'll feel happy. Roller coaster of emotions• Story spanning over generations of love & trust• Bodyguard Romance, betrayals, broken connections & the work on reestablishing them• Izumi Tanaka her royal highness herselfIzumi is my favorite, why, you may ask? Because she is flawed and she is aware of that, she works on it and tries to become a better person. She makes mistakes, but tries to improve herself so that she never repeats them again. Izumi is a normal girl, I am Izumi, you're Izumi, flawed but in progress.

Relationship story of crown prince of Tokyo and his daughter
Tokyo ever after is all about the relationship story of the crown prince of Tokyo and his daughter, a common Japanese American. There is also Japanese culture and history, kanji, princess etiquettes, jealous relatives, a handsome imperial guard and of course a perfect dramatic ending!

If you’re a fan of Crazy Rich Asians, you need to read this book
The story of Tokyo Ever After revolves around a girl named Izumi, an American Japanese who lives with her mother in North California. But one day she finds out that her father is the crown prince of Japan and she is ACTUALLY A PRINCESS!!! After coming to know about all this, she writes to her father and later travels to Japan. I love reading books by japanese authors or in general any book set in Japan and keeping that in mind, I love love love this book. It is perfect for those who love reading something light during summers. I mostly read Mystery & Thriller. You’ll rarely find me with a rom-com or a light read in my hand. For a change, I loved it. I am not revealing much about the story and would recommend it to those who loved Crazy Rich Asians.I adore the relationship between Izumi and Akio but at the same time I felt that it was more of Insta-love. Izumi was a charming character and I loved her character. Knowing the fact that she is a princess, she didn’t change her attitude toward other people… not even a little bit.As far as the writing is concerned, it was pretty good. I appreciate the efforts that the author has put in. I got to learn quite a few things just by reading this book. I am eagerly waiting for the next book.

Don’t bother …
The short sentences. The improbable… and very Americanised … plot lines. The non-twists. The lack of any depth to the characters. Bleurgh
