Progtastic!
What an amazing compilation! Cherry Red Records once again compiles a phenomenal CD full of familiar and not so familiar artists. The T2 No More White Horses track is great. Another new discovery! Not a bad track on the 4 cds. If you like early '70s British Prog you're going to love this comp.

Prog Rock collection from 1970
Various Artists - Taking Some Time On57 tracks in a nice box set across 4 CD’s on the Esoteric label. This is primarily prog rock and there is some good stuff here. This is not really my normal blues, soul, garage style of music but it’s good to expand a bit sometimes and this collection filled the need for me. I also have the 1969 and 1971 sets to go along with this 1970 collection but have only listened to this one so far. This is a lot of music here and takes awhile to get through it. While there is a good amount of guitar to be found in the set, it is not really guitar music as there are a wide variety of instruments on display here. Flute, violin, cello, synthesizers, piano, organ, strings…it’s all here. I’m not an expert on prog rock but this is a good collection of music.I can also report that the box itself is sturdy with an attached lid. The paper sleeves for each disc are thick and not easy to tear or split. The booklet is excellent. There are 46 pages and a helpful profile of each band in the collection. Yep, all 43 bands are included in the booklet which is great for someone not real familiar with these prog bands such as Rare Bird, Locomotive, Stray, East Of Eden, McDonald & Giles and others. In summary, an extensive set of prog music from 1970 in a nice package. Kudos to Esoteric. Recommended if you like Prog rock.

THIS IS A VERY WELL MIXED GENRE OF BRITISH ROCK FROM 1970 ESOTERIC DID THIS TIME...
i am giving this nice 4 cd set 5 stars as this clam shell box is well done with a fantastic booklet & awesome remastering on all 4 discs for a great high quality package here, we get a mix of PROG, FOLK,HARD ROCK, ACID ROCK & SOME CONTEMPORY here all in one box set!!! this gives a very nice display of what was going on in the uk in 1970 as 1968 to 1970 seem to be the years that gave birth to two big rock genre eras out of the uk that would be PROG & WHAT BECAME HEAVEY METAL!!!! ( HM was called acid rock at that time in 1970) anyway we have some of my favorite hitters on this lavish box set such as PETER GREEN ERA FLEETWOOD MAC, DEEP PURPLE,ATOMIC ROOSTER,BLOWYN PIG, EGG,LINDISFARNE, FAMILY, THE PRETTY THINGS, GENTLE GIANT, WISHBONE ASH, black sheep of the family by QUATERMASS (wich would be covered 5 years later in 1975 on RITCHIE BLACKMOORES RAINBOW DEBUT LP (great version there as well),ELP, CRESSIDA, HAWKWIND & TEN YEARS AFTER. this set does not cover the more obscure tracks by all of the bands, this time they seemed to focus more on the better well known tracks by these artists wich is good for maybe the younger fans & older like me that want a set like this of the basics in great sound if you are still buying cds and or cd sets like this such as i am. im very happy with how this came out!! i think others like me will be to!!!!!!!!!!!
