This is a nice little tool that greatly speeds up string changes. It does require 4 AA batteries, not included so don't forget to order those too. I'm not sure why it has a lock switch on it, what do they think you are going to accidentally do? No problem, I just don't engage it. It is reasonably quiet and runs at the right speed to be usable. The build quality seems good, if you need one of these I recommend it.

Six string guitars are fairly inexpensive for the most part, so a lot of people have one or more, and those guitars need new strings every so often. Replacing one string isn't that big a deal... but replacing 6 -or 12 - or more- can get to be a pain that leaves a lot of guitarists reluctant to swap them out as it takes quite a few turns of the machine head knobs to wind the strings up to pitch. Making things even more complicated is the fact that you have to turn those knobs while holding the strings in position. It's not brain surgery, but it is a little bit annoying. That's where this tool is a time saver and aggravation reliever. No more cranking a manual tool if you have one of these; just click the trigger up or down and the peg winds up or down. There is a lockout switch, and I didn't see any mention of intended purpose for the lockout, but that may be so that you don't accidentally trigger a tuner knob to over-tighten a string. Don't think that you'll use this for anything else - it's too low powered for anything except the intended purpose, and that's fine with me. It fits 6 string/12 string and bass tuners... as for durability -that's something we'll just have to wait and see about

Works great - you could use a manual one, or this one - easy to use, looks like it fits a variety of tuning pegs, reasonably priced, uses AA batteries so no wall warts or cords, makes changing a full set of strings slightly less tedious if you're a bit lazy like me. If you're a tech or someone with a large stringed instrument collection, this is a must-have!

This string winder is the real deal. I have 27 guitars and am constantly changing strings. This makes the job so easy. You must buy one. Well worth the money and I have nothing to do with the comapany.

Works well in both directions - a time saver. Don't leave the batteries in it unless its used regularly. Don't know how long the 4 AAA batteries will last.

My fav guitar shop uses this device. Works seemlessly. Quiet operation. Mine, however, grinds really bad and binds up when strings start getting tight. Pretty sure its a 1 off issue. I would give it a 4 or 5 outta 5 stars but, seems that quality control dropped the ball on this one. Gunna purchase a new one from my fav guitar store so I can test it out right there to make sure it works. It was a gift from a family member so Im switching it out instead of contacting them for info to do a return. Please don't let this review sway your opinion to purchase. My fav guitar store uses several of them without issue. The highly recommend it to their customers.

Produto excelente, funciona com 4 pilhas AA. Cada extremo do gatilho enrola a corda para lados opostos, portanto é perfeito para enrolar e desenrolar o encordoamento de forma rápida e eficiente. Gostei bastante, facilitou a troca de cordas. Poderiam melhorar o compartimento das pilhas e o acesso ao compartimento.

I usually dread changing strings, it can be a pain in the neck. This thing takes all the annoyance out of the process. It takes a fraction of the time now and the entire process is much more simple. I've only used it a couple of times so far but it works well and I have zero regrets. I expected a well made product because it's Ernie Ball and it definitely seems built to last.
