Fire-Maker

Not bad, but not very compelling
If you're new to the ID discussion, don't start with this piece. It presents some interesting ideas, but it is less compelling than say, Metamorphosis: The Beauty and Design of Butterflies .The disc also includes a second piece by Denton, called "The Biology of the Baroque," which describes the non-trivial challenge that non-adaptive features poses for neoDarwinian explanations of origins.I enjoy considering Denton's lines of thought and reasoning, and the two essential ideas explored here are valid lines of reasoning to consider. However, they are not very persuasive to someone who does not already accept the presence of design in nature. To it's credit, the photography is remarkable, consistent with the other pieces in this series.

Fire-Maker along with Privileged Species are great videos that complement Dr
Fire-Maker along with Privileged Species are great videos that complement Dr. Denton's book Nature's Destiny: How the Laws of Biology Reveal Purpose in the Universe. The videos also complement the video Cosmic Origins, The Scientific Evidence for Creation presented by Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J., PhD. Cosmic Origins complements Fr. Spitzer's book New Proofs for the Existence of God, Contributions of Contemporary Physics and Philosophy.

or control fire like man has and without it
Obviously, no species of animal has attempted to use, or control fire like man has and without it, we would not have survived. But I had never considered the conditions on planet earth required in order to start a fire in the first place, not to mention all that fire has allowed and provided for man's ability to thrive and to progress as we have in the last few centuries. Very thought provoking.

Scientific uniqueness of fire and of humanity's ability to create and use it
Absolutely brilliant perspective on the centrality and necessity of fire in the development of modern civilization and all technology--and the unique physical features which enable man to create and use fire. There is a short bonus feature on the problems non-adaptive order offers to Darwinism. (I think in most cases color is another example of non-adaptive--gratuitous--order in nature. I think these things are just there for our--and God's--pleasure.)

and the overall content was excellent. I enjoyed it
Video quality is HD quality, and the overall content was excellent. I enjoyed it. It was intriguing and thought provoking, and yet it was something I could show my wife and she'd be able to follow along with it was well (not something she really cares too much about is what I'm implying).

Fire - Invention!
Great revelation of a fundamental characteristic of man with profound implications connecting the power to make and control fire to the ability to produce many of the things we take for granted!

God is Great
I wish everyone could see this and know how wonderful God is and how He has made the earth and Universe so exactly to fit our needs.

Five Stars
Excellent book that mixes scientific reasoning with common sense to bolster the evidence for design.
