Good value, great product. Does the job.
These are all I will buy. Slips on but does not feel tight while stays firmly attached. Give them a shot of silicon spray.

Nice shoes; not waterproof
I bought them (desert tan) b/c they said that they were waterproof. These do not have the metal waterproof tag on them anywhere. The material that they’re made from, that’s waterproof, but the neoprene/like material sock insert, yet breathable. It isn’t however, waterproof, quick to dry, the material will not absorb water, and will air out, but your feet will get wet. Nice shoes, I like the way that they look, I can see in the summer, great shoe to have, very cool. But I wore them outside with mid level warmth socks: 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and my feet started to get cold. With that being said, I got several, thick, waterproof, socks, to wear with these, combine these shoes with good, outdoor socks: winning pair. If your feet do get wet, slap on a fresh pair of socks, and put these right back on, they’ll be dry in no time. I love merrels, been a fan for over 30 years.

Comfortable and true to size.
I wear them all day for work and they are very comfortable. They were a little too snug out of the box, but it only took a couple hours to break them in.

Huge improvement on Standard Chameleon
I liked the original Chameleon. Tactical Version is perfection. Heavier built and shorter elastic. Perfect shoe for construction job sites and hiking.

Nice looking shoes.
These are very comfortable and sharp looking to boot! Have received several compliments on them. Purchased two other pairs in different colors from the manufacturer sight as they were cheaper.Update: Unfortunately after wearing these for a few months (as much as I could stand) they never broke in or stretch at all. They are too small for the size at which they are listed and far too narrow. They have caused painful callouses on both of my feet. Waste of money and these are pricey.

Size up. Like WAY up.
Great brand and quality is on point. However the sizes need to be better. Go a half to full size up if you are dead set on owning them. The quality is worth more than I paid but they are not sized for people. They are sized for danety footed mystical pixies that practice the ancient art of Chinese foot binding. Sick kinky Jabronis.

Perplexed and delighted
Short version they are great but not waterproof. Get them if you want versatile comfortable shoe/short boot for warmer climate and are not concerned with getting wet.(This is not a long term review)A FEW GOOD RULES1- Always look cool2- Don’t get lost3- If you get lost keep looking coolCOMFORTI break in all my boots with a similar 3 step system.1.)They are worn for all activities multiple days2.) Soak and manipulate to remove any extra starches or coating that may prevent the boot from molding to the foot3.) Hike underweight (boots are freshly soaked prior to stepping off)Step one in daily wear they were extremely comfortable but definitely on the stiffer side. Post full break in they are very comfortable and do not leave my feet sore or with any hotspots. The stiffness definitely loosened up and isn’t bothersome. Remember this is not a running shoe and will not flex like one.BREATHABILITYI was hesitant to order these because I am not a fan of waterproof/gortex footwear. This is a preference I developed over years as a bit of a professional outdoorsman in jungle and tropic environments. I’ve learned everything in that environment will get wet so stop fighting it and find gear that drys quickly (quick drying gear is normally much lighter). Thankfully the mesh areas on this boot are completely breathable and allow moisture in and out which was exactly what I was hoping for.*Due to some of the wording in the description I was not sure if the boot would be as breathable as it is.*COLOR SELECTIONThe reason I chose the “Tàçtiçal” version (not a fan of the buzzword) instead of the standard version was because of color selection. I demand all black footwear to avoid large flashy logos and anything else that stands out drastically in town or off the beaten trail. This met that criteria when few other offerings do.TREADThere isn’t much I have to say about the grip of this shoe other than it is aggressive and effective on pavement and off-road. (Product image is accurate)INSOLEThe insole of the boot is removable so you can replace it with a custom insole if you feel the need to. I don’t feel swapping the insole is necessary but milage may very person to person. The ones included are very light weight comfortably padded and don’t absorb a ton of water. These are some of my main deciding points on insoles.LACE SYSTEMI initially planned on cutting the bungee and replacing it with a regular lace. However I hate to admit that the lace system has slowly grown on me. That does not mean that it is without flaw. I have questions about the long term durability of not only the bungee and eyelets but also the toggle that retains the tension. I do wish that this boot would have used metal eyelets to help with durability. I have had no issues with it so far but time will tell ,and if it does fail you should always carry some extra cord or lace in your pack. (Riggers tape can work in a pinch but you’ll look really dumb and that breaks rule number one)UPPER BOOTThe upper is rugged and protective but not overly rigid to the point of annoyance. I think this is accomplished by the mesh allowing the stiffer materials to flex. It is a very good middle ground.CONCLUSIONThis is a very comfortable well priced and versatile boot.Withholding the questionable lace system I think this is a great buy and would love to try more Merrell gear in the near future.
