Excellent book on all the important aspects of current India.
Packed with thorough and serious information but written in an easy style - with some lovely gems of humour.

Good job!
I'm a Japanese learning India.I love India, and trying to work for you. This book to me is an example showing how far and deep a foreigner can go in India.Lots of interviews to key persons, foreign observations on issues in India, and unique opinions. Some of them are not pleasant, but still the author's perspectives are reasonable. So, I cannot ignore, and learned several things.Good job!.Published in 2006 and revised in 2011.I should take the timing in my mind.

A must read on India struggling to modernize.
I just could not put it down. And the author has elaborated on 4 major problems that stand in the way of progress for lifting the poverty of a huge mass of people. Tough problems to resolve, particularly given the ongoing political bickering elevation of the moral self for doing public good.

Indispensable!
Il s'agit très certainement du livre le plus concis, le plus clair et le plus accessible pour comprendre l'Inde d'aujourd'hui.
