Perfect for cats! 5 years later and this is still the best water bowl we’ve ever purchased!
We have 2 cats that really enjoy playing with their water bowl. We tried several heavy weight ceramic bowls, but none of them were quite heavy enough to withstand the weight of our cats perching on the edge of the bowl. Once we learned that cats enjoy moving water, we shifted over to trying water fountains instead. While most of the water fountains we tried helped with the perching issue, one of our cats began making it her goal every night to disable the water fountains lol. She’d bite the spouts off, knock the tiers down, drop food into the water pump, etc. When we finally found a ceramic water fountain that she couldn’t take apart, she resorted to dragging the water bowl mat across the room every night until no water remained in the bowl LOL.I came across this weighted water bowl while searching for yet another basic, heavy, water bowl to try. After trying a handful of bowls and probably a dozen water fountains, this thing has been the BEST bowl we’ve come across. 5 years later and it’s still going strong! I honestly don’t know if we’ll ever use another water bowl again!Pros:- Customizable weight; simply put rice, water, or sand in the base to get it to the weight you need. There’s a twist off cap in the center of the base that allows you to add as much weight as you need, up to 33 pounds. Once you’ve added your weight, you just twist the cap back on and you’re done! We got a large bag of “playground sand” from Home Depot for ~$5.- The top portion clips on and off, making it super easy to refill and/or clean.- Cleans easily with just dish soap and water- The plastic is thick and durable. It doesn’t feel flimsy or fragile, and doesn’t seem to hold on to any smells.- Bowl capacity is fairly large. Even though we usually give our cats fresh water daily, the bowl is large enough to hold enough water for 2 cats for an entire weekend if needed.- Perfect height for cats. I purchased the large size (the smaller size hadn’t been released yet) and was initially worried that this bowl would be too high for my cats to drink from, but it’s actually the perfect height. Both my cats can drink comfortably from the bowl while sitting. Since it is a higher bowl in general, they don’t have to lean as far down while drinking, which actually seems like less strain on their neck and back! My cats were 4 years old when we got this bowl; kittens or cats with shorter legs *might* have an issue with the height, but it shouldn’t be an issue for most average sized house cats!Cons:- The base of the water bowl rests flush against the floor. If you have a pet that likes to paw at their water bowl, water will likely spill over the sides and inevitably pool around/under the water bowl base. Since the base rests flush against the floor, the water is unable to evaporate and remains trapped under the bowl. Not a big deal if you’re quick to clean it up, but if you leave it for extended periods of time (or if it happens frequently enough), I could see it leading to mold issues. I definitely recommend using a mat underneath to make cleanup a little easier! Since one of our cats is a paw-er, we ended up attaching rubber bumper pads to the bottom of the base to elevate it off the floor- It’s a tad bit ugly lol. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing water bowl, but that’s something I can live with. It beats cleaning water up off the floor every morning!TL;DR Fantastic bowl for anyone with pets that like to knock their food/water bowl over. Easy to clean, doesn’t hold on to odors, and easily fillable to weigh up to ~30 pounds!

Great for tall dogs
Found it hard to find a stand alone raised feeder that wasn't too tall or on a flimsy stand. This is sturdy and not too high. Being able to remove the bowl for cleaning is ideal. I have been using them for a few months now and have no complaints

Great for my dog
I got it for my cane corso; he was used to eating from a higher bowl than this , so i was a bit afraid it won t do the thing for him. But i can really say it s the best bowl i ve ever gotten him. After you put the water in the tank, it doesn t move at all. It s super easy to clean, the plastic is very qualitative. The bowl size is perfect (one meal is usually 1 -1.5 kg of meat). Plus the design is great, fits perfectly with the rest of the room; that was one criteria, i wanted it to not mess the design of the room. I just love it

Surprisingly awesome 100% recommend
This dog bowl is way more than I expected. Listing pics make it look like cheap plastic. It isn't at all. My pit mix puppies destroy anything plastic and the 70lb puppy (yes he's 10 months and 70 lbs) developed a habit of flipping his food bowl no matter how full it was. This bowl stopped that behavior in it's tracks. He pawed at it twice and then just ate out of it normally and hasn't tried again. With water in it, it's rock solid. I'm not sure how much it weighs when filled with water, but our puppy carries around our 8lb plate weights for fun. And the bowl itself is huge in a compact space. For reference our previous bowl was a 4cup capacity and this holds about twice that or 8 cups. Our 70 lb puppy needs about 4 cups a day. Both puppies love eating together and eat right out of the same bowl at the same time no issues. This bowl is perfect for our household. If you have any breed dog about 20lbs and up this is perfect. Our "new" puppy is about 18lbs and he has no problems eating out of this standing up.
