I started using this for my Gumbo, now everyone wants me to make them some and I had to get the 24 pack.

Thanks to this base mix, I'm able to make a gumbo on my own stovetop that tastes better/more authentic than any I tried throughout a week-long a visit to New Orleans itself last year, and that was a lot of different places. All the chefs make theirs a little differently from one another. They were all "good," but not as good as this. We actually got our first few packets from a little shop in the French Market section, near Café Du Monde. After we got home and tried it, I was delighted to find out I could order more online, and this "full case" deal from Amazon is the best "per packet" deal you'll get anywhere, even though we don't need anywhere near 24 packets at once. I just share the extras with other family members/friends who also like it. For me, the "seafood only" version is the best (I combined shrimp and diced scallops in the last batch). Have some fresh, diced green onion and Tabasco handy for diners who like a little extra "kick" in their gumbo! C'est délicieux!

I used to make gumbo from scratch until I came across this gumbo base on a recent trip to Louisiana. It is so easy to make and captures the flavour and texture of gumbo so well I purchased a case of them from Amazon and had a contact ship them to me in New Zealand. Very happy with the product.

This is my all time favorite gumbo base. I’ve made from scratch but this base adds the right amount of savory flavor. I buy in bulk and give as gifts but when i run out I panic.
