Q: Are these strong enough to support the weight of suits?

I just hung 3 suits and 3 dress shirts on one hanger and it seems to be holding up very well!!!

Q: When all 6 shirts are on the hanger do they touch the floor??

No they don’t. I have a bunch of my bfs shirts hanging from them. They don’t go near the floor.

Q: Has anyone tried using wire hangers on these?

I haven't tried wire hanger, but I've used hangers that have a metal hanging hook and the rest of the hanger is hard plastic. They work okay. The one thing I've noticed is that when you put the bar that holds the hangers down (unhook one end), sometimes the smaller hangers slip into the next "hole" down. Not a big deal because when you rehook the organizer's end up in your closet, they straighten out. Since I use a mixture of hangers, I just put the "thinner" hanger in the hole that will be on the "bottom" when the bar is down. This is very hard to describe but I hope it helps a little.

Q: Will plastic hangers from walmart fit in the slots

Your question didn't say which brand or weight of hanger you bought at Walmart. We had a variety of hangers both plastic and wooden, and the slots were big enough to fit all of them. We did find that they work best with hangers that are similar size and shape, but any hanger will work. These were great for keeping a closet organized and hangers from tangling with each other. Love them!
