So there was definitely fewer than 500 shells in this package but I have to say the quality and variety was great. Not only would these be great for a small terrarium but I used these for my marine hermit crabs in an aquarium and they LOVED THEM. I have multiple red legged hermits and dwarf blue legged hermits. There is enough variety in size of shells (from about 8mm - 1in) for them to grow into, except there’s definitely less shells on the 1 inch side that work for the red hermits. I’ve never seen crabs get so excited. They all changed their shells 4-5 times to get the perfect fit, it was so cute and I’ve never been so satisfied with an Amazon purchase. In the off chance another small hermit crab owner is looking for shells, these are it.

The shipment was delivered the day it was promised, always wonderful knowing I can count on that. I used these for resin coasters, turned out great and lots of fun to go through all of the different shells. There was not an excess amount of broken shells, way less than what I was anticipating. There are a fair amount of shells in the package for the price. The shells are packaged in a ziploc bag that is packaged in a small box. There were a few broken shells that I ended up using because they were too pretty not to add in. These are perfect for little crafts, such a resin, I will definitely be purchasing these again! If you use these in resin, please account for the air trapped inside of the shells as you insert, they will float and rotate. Also, the ones that rotate eventually release the air bubbles, be patient and insert shells with care. Be sure to get those excess bubbles before the resin sets. I was very happy with how mine turned out and this was my first time using shells and making coasters. Thank you for a wonderful product!!

ordered the 500 sea shell bag for a Girl Scout event where I knew the exact amount that I needed. But I only received a bag with 383 shells, some broken shell shards, and sand. I understand the description said approximate, however, having a discrepancy of over 100 pieces and unacceptable.

I used them to make Fairy/Intention Bottles. Filled with Sand, Shells, Chip gemstones, Beads, a drop of essential oil. I could only use 1/3 of the bag as, the rest were too large to get through the bottle mouth. If you buy any bottle size smaller than 1ml, you won't be able to use them. I love them, though, and wish the company would package a miniature size, just for favor bottles. This would make them more cost effective, for those purposes, I believe. Could have been more mollusk type shells, included. There weren't many. I will glue them to something,like a magic wand, to use up the bag :)

Obviously, we are all getting different random shells but what I got were ridiculously tiny and the very few that were big enough for my extremely young marine dwarf blue legged hermits were broken. There were literally none that were usable by me, if there were even 2 intact shells as described and shown in the pics I would have kept them bit there weren't.Great price and decent for decorations but beware that many were broken. Also, there is no way that is 500 shells. Maybe 200. Maybe.
