Spirit the Deluxe Edition
If you want my opinions about Leona Lewis's vocals or songs from her first album you can find them on my review for her originally released Spirit CD, this review is just for the additional tracks and the DVD from her deluxe edition of Spirit.I'm a Leona Lewis fan, that's for sure, so that may be why her deluxe edition for her first album Spirit is getting a flat out five star rating. But I do have some reasons for the given rating. But before I discuss the three new songs on this CD, I'd like to talk about the changes for her two songs "Better in Time" and "Footprints in the Sand." For the deluxe edition the two original recordings of these songs have been replaced with the single mixes. To my surprise, I actually liked the single mix for "Better in Time" more than the original, the piano intro is extended and I thought it sounded lovely. In my opinion the single mix could have been even better if it was just a piano ballad, but it is a great mix nonetheless. Also included is a remix created by Jason Nevins for Leona Lewis's hit "Bleeding Love." The two single mixes from her first album are the only changes, besides the "Bleeding Love" remix but that's an additional track, now let's discuss the three new songs on her deluxe edition! The first new song is "Myself" and is a duet with Novel. Novel has a unique voice, and it sounds very nice to say the least. The next song "Run" is probably reason alone to buy this CD. It's a strange enchanting song and I absolutely loved it. The last new song on this CD is "Forgiveness" and I absolutely LOVED this track. I haven't heard a song like this from Leona before, it just makes me smile. This is also the first time I've ever heard Leona talk her lyrics during a song, "if everyone could just forgive, the world would be a much better place...forgiveness." I really hope she sings more songs like this in the future. These three songs are just great additions to the CD. I do wish "A Moment Like This" was included on the CD though, but nonetheless it's a great CD.But this isn't the end of Spirit the Deluxe Edition. There also is a DVD with seven of Leona Lewis's music videos. I don't really like music videos because many of them don't make the least bit of since, but I thought Leona Lewis's were made very well, I'm just sick of half dressed women dancing seductively in every single music video, I mean of course it catches my attention but it's so unoriginal, fortunately Leona Lewis stays clear from this. I wasn't going to talk much about the music videos...but I just have to mention a couple. The music video for "Forgive Me" seemed very Americanized, and Leona Lewis finally shows off some dance moves (And she's not that bad a dance either) But it really doesn't seem to be her style, and I just had to laugh, she had the strut going and everything but she's just too nice to sell it, even when she's trying to act tough she still seems like the nicest person in the world. She also gets to wear a top hat and ride a carousel......just watch the music video. The music video for Run was FANTASTIC. It's not my favorite song, but her music video for "Run" is very interesting. To me it was like...how about I give you a qoute from Leona, the song takes place "an enchanted, haunted forest. It's picking up on different elements of the song." That was similiar to what I was thinking. Leona Lewis looks beautiful in her music videos and while yet a couple of her music videos were confusing and seeming to go no where, they were still nice to watch. Down below is a list of each new single mix, remix and song on her CD, and a list of the music videos on the DVD;CD -Better In Time (Single Mix) (3:52)Footprints in the Sand (Single Mix) (3:56)Myself (A duet with Novel) (3:50)Run (4:37)Forgiveness (4:20)Bleeding Love (Remix by Jason Nevins) (3:41)DVD -Bleeding Love (US Edition)Bleeding Love (UK Edition)Better in TimeFootprints in the SandForgive MeRunI Will Be (Live)If you're a fan of Leona Lewis, what are you waiting for? This is a great CD, seven music videos, three new songs, two single mixes and a remix! This is a must have.

God, how I love this woman!
Again another singer who does not get the respect due in America. I had stated the same thing in a previous review of a dutch singer/songwriter who's CD I purchased awhile back named VanVelzen. I have heard some of her songs recently on the local radio station but it was not until I pulled up a pieced together video of a tv soap on YouTube and listened to the song attached to that video called "Run". It literally took my breathe away for a few seconds because her voice, the lyrics and music was so beautiful. Her look was so amazing as well. I know it is a Snow Patrol song originally but I love Leona Lewis's version even more. I could listen to this CD all day and never tire of it. Hope she becomes hugely successful in the states. I also love the Deluxe CD/DVD that Amazon offers because the videos of some of her songs are a nice bonus as well.

Mellow
Listening to Leona Lewis mellows me into total relaxation. Her voice is so wonderful that she would be able to sell her version of a phone book! A long soak in bubble bath, candles, and this music can transform you!

Leona Lewis Voice is one for the Ages!!!!
I bought the Leona Lewis Spirit Deluxe Edition and I am thoroughly glad I did. Her voice is otherworldly, it is just the personification of beauty. She takes her songs and places such passion in them it will literally blow you away. I mainly listen to country music but when I heard her voice it simply captivated me. This album is rich in a variety of songs that have to deal with the heart and its emotions. Several songs are covers from other bands and she molds them into her own and sometimes makes them better. I will make sure to keep up with this artist who seems to be on par with the likes of Celine Dion.

It'$ Aiming at the Money, But Still Worth Buying
I don't know why a lot of CDs of British artists are always released later in the United States, but obviously this deluxe edition of Leona Lewis' Spirit is released late for a reason. For the DVD, the US version contains one more music video "Run" and a live performance of "I Will Be" that are not included in the international version, for the release of the international version is earlier than that of the "Run" video. Nevertheless, "The Making of the Video Forgive Me" is not available in the US version, but as this is a music product, I guess more music videos are better. For the CD, they used the original revised US track list for the standard part, but they changed "Better in Time" and "Footprints in the Sand" into single mixes. Both of the single mixes are quite different from the album versions. For example, in "Better in Time", the piano intro was extended, and the main melody only came in for the chorus, while in the album version, the main melody came in as soon as Lewis started to sing. The difference of the versions of "Footprints in the Sand" is even more evident. Among the four bonus tracks, three of them are unique compared with the international version. "Myself", which is a duet between Lewis and Novel, is exclusive in this US release; "Run", which is an album version in the international release, is also a single mix in the US release; "Bleeding Love (Remix)", which is originally an iTune bonus track for the first US edition, is finally available as a shorter version on physical CDs.Deluxe Editions of CDs are always about making money, but this CD has six different tracks compared with the original US release, besides it came with a DVD. In addition, as I'm a buyer from China, who's now studying in the US, my copy of the first edition is the international version, which means it does not even have "Misses Glass" and the single "Forgive Me". Therefore, if you like Leona Lewis, buying this new edition is not so bad a choice.
