A terrific tool that did a great job!
I have a large Lopi wood stove insert vented via a metal pipe that goes up about 22 feet through a stone chimney. I have been having the pipe professionally cleaned at the end of the winter season each year, and the draft is terrific for quite a while. But this year, I had a ton of great firewood, and burned a lot more wood than usual. With still about a month to go before the winter ended, smoke started coming into the room every time I opened the door to add wood. Rather than stop using the fireplace or possibly having to have the pipe cleaned twice, I decided to give this chimney sweep kit a try. And it worked great! The kit is easy to use, but it could make a terrific mess if you don’t have a good plastic barrier over the opening. Take a look at the accompanying pictures for how much creosote came down the pie, and how none of it came into the room. Here is what worked for me: 1) I put a layer of plastic inside of the door opening, and another one outside, and taped the top and side edges with duct-tape, and left the bottom edge untaped at this point. 2) Then I put a few strips of duct-tape in the middle of the opening about a third of the way from the bottom, made a vertical cut through the tape and both layers of plastic, and put about a 6 inch long piece of black plastic 1 inch pipe through that opening at an angle so that the rod would go up into the flue as I fed more rods into the pipe, and taped the black plastic pipe in place. 3) I then put the head assembly onto the first rod, ran the head and rod under the plastic with the head going into the flue, and the rod coming back out through the plastic pipe, and then sealed the bottom edge of the plastic with duct tape. 4) I used a good electric drill and made sure to keep pushing the head up and down as I ran the drill (as others suggested) adding more rods until I could feel that I had reached the top, then did the same on the way down as I removed the rods. The rods slid easily in and out of the black plastic pipe, and none of the massive amount of creosote came through the plastic barrier or the pipe. The whole job took about an hour. Detaching the rods on the way down was sometimes difficult but the pointed end of the tool that is provided worked (with some effort) to press the buttons down far enough to release the rod. When cleaning the rods, I suggest spraying each button with WD40 to make it easier next time. That may even make it worth doing before first use to make sure all of the buttons are good to go. All in all, a great tool and well worth the price!

Simple and effective
Very happy with how easy this was to use. Hooking and unhooking the rods together wasn't difficult. I used a corded drill instead of battery operated being I went up 20 ft. I thought I might need a little more power.

Works awesome!
Super easy to use and works great! Cleaned the chimney in about 20 mins, without having any idea what was doing.

Works fine
Works fine. I am not sure if it cleans as good as a professional cleaner but is it half the price on one cleaning from a professional. The segments attach well together. Having the bright coloured brush makes it easy to see when you want to confirm you have reached the top.Be sure you know how to take your wood stove apart and put it back together before you buy this as you must disassemble to get your cleaning brush up the chimney.

Worked very well
The brush head came in a bag and the bristles were pushed down. It took a few minutes with a hair dryer to soften the plastic enough to bend them out. Cleaned my chimney vey well and was easy to use.
