I'm 61 years old. I always loved the Cleftones version of Heart And Soul since I was a little kid. I didn't realize until I bought this CD that they recorded a lot of music in a style that I really like.

At Best A Decent Sampling Of Their Work
This 10-t rack release from Collectables, part of their budget Great Group series, is fine if all you want to do is sample one of the greatest Doo-Wop vocal gatherings ever assembled (lead Herbie Cox, first tenor Charlie James, second tenor Berman Patterson, baritone William McClain and bass Warren Corbin). But if you are a serious collector of Doo-Wop you will be much better served by two other Collectables volumes - the 1992 2-CD 40-track box-set "The Cleftones For Collectors Only" and their 2007 25-track release "The Cleftones - The Ultimate Collection" both of which contain the same 10 sides here plus many more.Their charted sides included here are: Heart And Soul - a # 18 Billboard Pop Hot 100 and # 10 R&B in June-July 1961 as Gee 1064 (b/w How Do You Feel? - not included); You Baby You - a # 78 Billboard Pop Top 100 in February 1956 (and their first charted side) as Gee 1000 (b/w I Was Dreaming - not here); and Little Girl Of Mine - # 8 R&B and # 57 Top 100 April-June 1956 as Gee 1011 b/w You're Driving Me Mad (which IS included). Charted sides omitted are: For Sentimental Reasons - # 60 Hot 100 in September 1961 as Gee 1067 (b/w `Deed I Do - not included); and their last charting side, Lover Come Back To Me - a # 95 Hot 10 in December 1962 as Gee 1079 (b/w There She Goes - not included).Other non-charting sides here are: Can't We Be Sweethearts? - Gee 1016 (b/w Niki-Hoeky - not here) and Happy Memories - Gee 1025 (b/w String Around My Heart - not here - both in 1956; Since We Fell In Love - from their October 1957 Roulette LP "Pajama Party" although recorded at Gee; Why Do You Do Me Like You Do? - Gee 1031 in 1957 (b/w I Like Your Style Of Making Love - not here); She's So Fine - Roulette 4094 in July 1958 (b/w Trudy - not here); and from 1961 - Again - Gee 1077 (b/w Do You? - not here). The sound reproduction of this series is quite decent, but don't expect anything in the way of liner notes or discography (which is why I show the above details).
