So good I bought a physical copy after downloading a pdf of it
A great and accessible and well designed launching point for any artist of any medium. I’ve been recommended two highly revered books in the past on the topic, namely Color and Light by Gurney and Light for Visual artists by Yot, but found them incomplete and slightly disorganized in content, scope, and instruction. This is a masterclass on how you make an educational art book. Every Master Series book will now be added to my collection including their new one on composition and narrative. It is a gorgeous book too. Easily the most beautiful one on my shelf.Like I mentioned before I ripped a file of it originally online but after going through about 70 pages, found that it was invaluable and I would hate myself if I missed the opportunity to grab one of these while they’re still in print. If you’re a beginner, they will take you step by step introducing you to the sheer basics of light and color. even if you’re an intermediate or advanced artist, I’m sure there’s something of value for you in here.

Incredible book!
This book helped me understand color theory and how to use light in my art so much! It’s extremely useful and if I’m having trouble rendering a drawing I will go back to it and see the tips. It’s improved my art significantly! I love the master artists’ portfolios and seeing how their art goes from unfinished to polished. I would highly recommend this book for any serious beginner artist.

Love this book!
To me it should be a must have for every artist. It has helped me to understand light & color better.I have gone through it really slow since the concepts are somewhat technical, and I have to give me time to ponder about the concepts before reading the next pages. It's a book that I would definitely keep coming back to read in the future so I can get new insights that I may have missed before.

Awesome quality book
I got my artist girl this book because she wanted to learn more about colors, she's more into black and white drawings. She said it's been a great way to learn. Ot doesn't matter if you are starting to draw or you are a pro. Very good page and color quality.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I thought you should know…
Amazing value in this book. Almost everything an artist could want to know on the subject. As someone with years of training in fine arts and illustration, I was blown away by how much of this information I’d never heard, yet it’s so important.Good for beginners and seasoned artists alike. It’s probably helpful to have a good understanding of perspective, but not required. The book is written for both digital and traditional painters. If I were teaching foundational art classes, this would be used as a text book.

Excellent read -- BUT --
This book is an excellent read to bring your photography or art to the next level, even as a freelance professional like myself. Examples of color theory, how color and light work was much more thorough then any class I had years ago in art school. However, I did minus one star. This was due to the shipping and handling. The book spine and cover came in damaged like something crushed and bumped the corners harshly.I had only ordered two different books and from the same box - one came in perfect condition, and the other (this book) did not.Not sure why there was damage, but despite that, I highly recommend the contents of this book to beginner, hobbyist and professional artists.

Perfect Christmas Gift!
Got this for a friend for Christmas. He fell in love with it! (I'll be getting myself this later because it looked amazing) He has been having the hardest time understanding how colors work and an even harder time with how light works. He said this was the best guide he was ever given.
