I have been using this smart garbage can for 3 weeks. I love it. It is super cool. It can seal and change the trash bags for me. It works exactly as describes. It makes my life much easier. It deserves its price. I will recommend this garbage can to my friends!!

Beware the seller of this product. Piece of junk after a week. Mfr blames overseas.
EDIT: After sending emails to a few different people I was finally able to receive a refund. Disappointed that it didn’t continue to work. Great product in the beginning when it did work. The first week this was amazing. after a week the sensor went bad. it opens and closes randomly and is very loud, waking you up. in the end it serves as nothing more than an ugly plastic box. US Townew claims they aren't responsible and it's not their product and to contact overseas. Very expensive piece of junk.

Hate touching trash? This is the way to go
The media could not be loaded. Always hate to tight trash bags and then dive into smelly trash can to replace a new bag, this T1S solved my problems -- The trash can itself can seal the filled trash bag, and place a new one in without a human touch!I've been using the T1S for about 10 days now, it's quiet and this 2021 new version's expanded battery hold itself very well. The sensors are all working fine and this product has matched all my expectations.Would definitely recommend to people like me who don't love to replace trash bags. Would also recommend to ppl with pets and toddlers.

Pretty convenient, need one in bigger capacity
Pretty nifty for what it does and only product right now that I know of. They really need to make one with larger bin.Have had some issues where it closes on me while I'm still standing nearby. Not sure if that's a user error but I thought it was supposed to stay open if you're right on top of it.

Faulty sensor goes crazy a couple months after purchase
3 stars because everything but the sensor lid works nicely. -1 star for a faulty lid, and -1 for a price tag that shouldn’t come with a faulty sensor. If they’d fix the sensor issue then This is exactly what I want.Updated:The sensor goes bad quickly and you can’t get support to address the issue. I was very pleased at first until the sensor started going crazy. There’s no seller to contact and the Townew US site says need to contact the overseas people. Contact the overseas people and they say I have to contact the seller who I can’t contact. Low hopes on getting this resolved. Disappointing for such a pricy trash can.Original:I replaced my hands free (sensor opens top) 13 gallon tall kitchen trash can with this, and I’m super happy. While it’s a fraction of the size at 4 gallons it’s so much more convenient. Opens with a sensor like the other trash can. But then with the push of a button it self seals the bag, opens for me to remove it, and vacuums a new bag to fill the space again. I’ll take the little bag out as needed every couple days and it’s never stinky like a larger trash can that I take out less often. Definitely a luxury, it’s not hard to take care of trash before this, but I’m happy I got it.

Works better than I expected. It's nice not having to tie bags, or put new bags into the trash can.
Very happy with this thing. It's a real game changer. It automatically seals your trash bag, then, once you remove the sealed bag, it pulls a new bag into the can. This means you don't have to deal with trash-bag ties, or plastic cinches, which require you to pull the bag up and out of the can, getting your hands all over the dirty trash bag, etc. It also means that you don't have to open up a new bag, stick it into the dirty trash can, and pull the edges of the bag around the dirty rim of the trash can.It works by having a top piece which contains the bag "cartridge", which is essentially a square frame containing a long, wide plastic sheath. When you press the button on the front to seal the trash bag, two rectangular rods which more perpendicular to each other move to a corner of the bottom of the top piece, cinching the tube of bag to a point. A heating element then turns on to melt the cinched plastic, sealing the top of the bag, and creating a new bottom for the new bag. The top piece then swings up allowing you to grab the sealed bag and remove it. The top piece then closes, and a vacuum fan turns on, pulling the sealed bottom of the tube down to the bottom of the can, forming the new trash bag. What surprised me is how well the unit deals with overfilled can/bags, etc. When the rods move to cinch the bag closed, it also detects when there is an obstruction in the way. When it detects this, it swings the top piece up, pulling more bag/tube out of the cartridge, then tests the cinch again. Once it's able to cinch the bag closed with no resistance from obstructions, it seals it. So basically, it automatically adjusts the size of the bag, making it taller if it needs to. Pretty cool. When it runs out of bag/tube, replacing the cartridge is simple. You pull the top trim piece off which covers the cartridge, pull the old one out, drop a new one in, push the button, and it sucks the new bag into place. My only wish is that they'd make a bigger trash can! This can is about the size of a typical office wastebasket. It would be nice to have one that is "tall kitchen bag" sized, and one which is full trash can sized. Hopefully someone will release one.

Love it wish they made it bigger
Easy and effortless. I bought a few of these and one of them keeps bugging out as in the lid doesn’t stop opening and closing but other than that the other units look fine and they’re fantastic if you’re lazy Worth the investment

Warning no warranty in US.
Bought the trash can and refills early August 2021 received it and didn't open it for a week or so as room wasn't done I was going to use it in.Charged it up and used it. It started opening and closing by itself randomly every few hours. It got worse and worse till it was every few minutes. Went to website for Townew and read to clean the sensor. Did that didn't help. So I sent a to email support. So I did and explained the problem. A few days late I get an email back. They wanted a video of it doing it and some pictures of SN and label. So I send it and a few days later I get a response saying they don't sell that model number and to contact an overseas email address.Since then the return time has expired and I'm stuck with a high priced manual trash can.I would stay away from this company and look at a different brand.

Dishonest Company
Similar to other complaints, this garbage can never worked. It just kept opining and closing at random. We complained within the 30-day qualifying period, Townew sent us a shipping label and we sent it back. Didn't hear anything. Finally inquired and they told us we had sent them an old model back that they haven't carried in a couple of years!!! We sent back the exact item they sent us - it's the only one we had. Clearly they sold us an old model that didn't work. We explained they must have sent us an old model but they insist we sent them a model T1S instead of the T1D that they had sent to us. We DON'T HAVE A T1S TO RETURN TO THEM BECAUSE THEY SENT US A T1D!! UNBELIEVABLE!This is what they said after numerous communications back and forth:"The T1D trash can that you returned to us is a previous model that we stopped selling for a few years already. Sorry that a refund will only be issued when the correct product is returned."OMG how can we return a different model than the one they sent. Terrible and insulting customer service! Amazon A-Z has said they will provide a refund.Thank you Amazon. Shame on you Townew!you deserve -ve stars

I'm shocked
I'm shocked at the bad reviews. Had it for 6 months now and it works perfect. I am astounded at how it takes out the old garbage bag and adds a new one. This one's for the tech heads and it is useful and not a gimmick. Just my two cents after buying it

Terrible experience so far - defective model?
The media could not be loaded. After following all instructions for the setup, my garbage can now opens and closes constantly in intervals ranging from 5-20 seconds, at least 5 times a minute without anyone or anything there to activate the sensor. The bet part is I’ve only had this in use for ~10 hours. Within 10 hours this $100+ dollar garbage can is now broken. Additionally, it came pre scratched on the top (lucky me!)No idea what is going on but I’ve initiated a return claim with the company, will update here whenever anything happens. Hopefully I will receive another model that won’t self destruct after 10 hours of extremely limited use.

Unreliable
I have been through 3 of these garbage cans. I was IN LOVE with the first one. Worked beautifully...for about a year. After about the 1 year mark, the heat seal feature stopped working, rendering it useless. Because I really loved it and had lots of (expensive) refills, I decided it was just bad luck and ordered another. Almost immediately the motion sensing lid was opening and closing constantly on its own. I tried all the troubleshooting suggestions. Moved it around the room, did a "reset", and a few other things. Even in a dark room with no one around, the lid was opening and closing constantly every minute or so. I ended up paying upfront for the shipping to return it. Very inconvenient. Once I received my refund...I looked at the expensive stack of refills sitting on the shelf and decided to try...one...more...time. New one arrived, within the first couple of days, same problem. Lid opening and closing over and over again. This time, due to a very busy schedule, I missed the return window. So, I'm out the money and have a very expensive trash can that doesn't do what it's supposed to. I've resorted to lifting the lid manually. I will continue to do so until I run out of refills, then I'll send it to the dump where it belongs. On a side note: I contacted Townew and explained my situation and that I'd recieved 3 defective products and would like to know if they'd be gracious enough to allow me to return the unopened refill packs I no longer needed as a consolation. They refused, because it was past the return window. Never again. Perhaps a fun thing to buy and try your luck if you have lots of disposable income.
