What does this do that makes it almost 3x as expensive as coding robot Botley?

The Kids First Coding & Robotics Kit is more extensive . This item comes with more parts and has 30 lessons that progress in complexity.

How specifically is this better than the $40. Botley?

Kids First Coding & Robotics has graduated lessons for kids aged 4 to 8. The 30 lessons provided are aligned with standards for computer science education developed by the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). Guidelines from the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) and courses from Code.org were also referenced in the creation of these lessons. Details on the specific standards and curriculum can be found on the Thames & Kosmos website.

Can you program your own instructions? Or do you have to follow the manual?
