Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition - Xbox One

This is my first installment in the witcher series. I've tried it on PC before and found the controls to be too cumbersome to deal with but the adaptation to console seems to be almost flawless.Pros:GOTY addition so it's got all expansions and patches. Very few bugs. I have yet to encounter a bug with over 30 hours into play so far.Story is actually really good and your decisions in the game impact story so replayability is nice.Combat system takes a little bit to get used to butReally big open world with lots of quests. Reminds me a lot of skyrim. Players to like adventure and exploration will thrive in this gameThere are options to scale difficulty and to upscale lower level opponents so every combat encounter is challenging and grants exp.Almost ALL of the dialogue is acted. This really makes the game immersive and you get a good feel for the characters. Voice acting is good.Lots of options to custom build your character to match your play style. Go light armor and fast attacks in a combat built or heavy armor and strong attacks or build up your magic (sign) abilities.Fast travel is available so you dont waste a lot of time running around once you've explored an area.Crafting system is great and finding new patterns for armor, potions weapons and bombs definitely rewards the player who likes to explore.Quests are abundant and clearly marked with level and area. The game also shows you where the quest objectives are on the minimap and shows you exactly how to get there for most of them which is nice.Cons:Controls are much better on console than PC but inventory/map/skill management was clearly designed to be used with a mouse. Its functional but takes a little patience.Combat is nice, but challenging. Took a sold 10 hours to really get a grip on it so that i could bump up the difficulty.The game auto-saves frequently so if you die it will load your last save but it does take 3-4 minutes for that save to load which is a bit of a pita if you're struggling with a challenging encounter or you happen to jump off of a ledge you seem to be very squishy.If you jump between major areas the game plays a cut scene every time, presumably as it loads that map. I tended to bounce between areas a lot so those cut scenes get a little old after a while.The cons are honestly relatively small inconveniences. They're not major flaws by any stretch. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this game and the companion Prima Guide, especially if you're new to the game. There's a lot of functionality that's was new to me since i had not played previous witcher games. I was 10 hrs in and using food almost exclusively to heal before i figured out that meditation also refilled my potions which is a BIG deal or figured out how to play the integrated card mini game (I really struggled with the rules to this game until i read the guide). It's a very well polished game comparable to skyrim but with better combat and story IMO.

*Edit Oct 2020*If you haven't played the game yet then I don't know what will. Since my previous review I've played the first 2 witcher games and I have to say that playing those had made me appreciate the Witcher 3 all the more. This isn't a review on the first 2 Witchers but I do recommend you play them as I think they are worth playing. The first game's combat system is a bit rough to get used to by today's standards but the story is still great and the Witcher 2 is also a masterpiece *chefs kiss*.I've now played the Witcher 3 twice (2nd time on PC) and am still enjoying It. If you're the kind of a gamer who prefers a more casual experience where It does not require a lot of thought and can kind of go autopilot then you may not enjoy the W3 as much as It is highly detailed in almost every aspect. However, I don't believe this is a negative thing and I don't consider It overwhelming. It strikes a very good balance of depth and enjoyment in my opinion. Even 5 years after the game was released you can still find videos of people finding new things in the game.You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll most certainly have a good time. Once It's over and you feel a sense of emptiness don't be sad that Its over, be glad that It happened at all.Buy It now and you'll get a free upgrade to the next gen when It is available.------One of my greatest fears of playing games is playing a game so good that i lose myself in it. I have a very addictive personality when it comes to gaming so when i heard such positive reviews about the Witcher 3 i was hesitant as i felt like i will spend many hours in this world.Well let me tell you friends... that is exactly what happened.I have never played the first 2 witchers before (but youtube summaries and cutscenes can be sufficient) but this game has made immersing yourself into it's world so easy. I have not been so captivated by the characters and plot in quite some time and i found myself playing this almost everyday. I see this game being compared to skyrim quite often but they really have nothing in common besides the "medieval" timeframe. I have now completed the entire story, and both DLCs and i can easily say this is one of my favorite games of all time. The level of detail the developers put into this game is unbelievable. I almost wish i can forget the game and replay it like it was my first time.Buy the complete edition with the DLCs. They are equally as captivating as the main plotline.

Excellent. Learning curve is challenging but not overwhelming. Good storytelling, lots of world to explore. Not the diversity in playstyles as some other games but enough to keep it interesting enough for a replay.

Le jeu a l'air super, mais pas disponible en français (que anglais, turc, polonais, chinois et coréen) ce qui n'est pas noté dans la description. Le package français est impossible à installer malgré plusieurs tentatives. Dommage....

My granddaughter lives this game plenty to do on it
