working so far for me!
this wasn’t painful to do really at all and i have a pretty low pain tolerance. as far as lack of instructions, this is ridiculously easy and self-explanatory to do.. literally took me a second to figure it out the first time i did it, so it’s pretty comical to me reading the reviews about not receiving directions lol. but so far it seems to be working!! fingers crossed!

Learning curve, but worth it
I had the most painful ingrown mail of my life. This was to the point shoes were painful, and even with it not rubbing against something - I was still in so much pain. I wanted something that could help since there was no way out except enduring the pain and seeing my podiatrist. The nail had been too short on the affected corner, and it felt endless. This product has a great purpose, but if you’ve never used this before or aren’t careful, this may be painful during the trials of getting the plastic on.Realistically, I wasn’t hoping for much since the plastic felt a bit thick, but it works if you use the tools provided. It took three plastics before I successfully put one in place! The three plastics can still be used but they warped so they won’t be the first ones I grab. Ultimately, if you have patience, keep your hands and station clean, you’ll find success with these. I can’t speak for intense cases, in those I recommend just getting it checked out - but if it’s mild to moderate you can curb the pain and hopefully find success.I just had it on for the night, and despite moving in my sleep, it remained in place with no need to adjust. So far it’s been good - just feels like pressure there versus pain from the nail engaging with the skin. I’m going to follow up when my ingrown mail grows more to give a better insight.UPDATE: I slept with these on, and they didn’t move at all during sleep. I’ll be honest, after a few days these do catch on socks (the plastic snags) and it can move the plastic out of place. But a few days worth goes pretty far, and I needed to replace the original plastic only twice before the nail comfortably grew in and then I removed it. Keeping it clean and dry by your foot is important too, but this was such a great purchase and I’m so glad I found a solution.

Uncertain
The tools were nice but I could never get the edge protectors to slide down the side of the toenail.

Seems to be working!
I have had literally years with my big toe getting painful and even infected if I let it grow out at all. But the plastic strips (also called gutter splints if you want to look up medical discussion on them) are actually making a difference. My nail is still growing out so I can't say fixed yet, but all signs are positive.About ten days ago, I let my feet stay in hot water for about twenty minutes to soften the skin. I then used the tools to do as instructed, getting rid of dead skin and cleaning the nails and the side of it. My one big toe, the less sensitive one, went on seemlessly. I slid it down the side, carefully clipped the excess, and for security put a cloth bandaid on to make sure it wouldn't end up slipping out. My more severe toe that I tend to clip even shorter on the side to avoid pain required me trying to different pieces of plastic as it was harder to make it 'fit' on the nail - I think there simply wasnt enough for it to slide under easily. This second nail dud have some sensitivity just when I was getting the splint on..but that's no surprise with how much I was prodding it.I've changed them out several times and made sure things were clean and tidy with the tools and fir the first time in a long time it actually seems the skin is being held back. I can't feel them on my toes at all and I am still opting to keep the bandaids on just to ensure the splints don't get caught on anything or nudged out. Overall, it seems to be going well and I'm honestly hopeful that I will have normal toenails again.

Does not work
It's not stable and falls off when walking.

There are no directions!
I think this is one of the only things that actually might work. I have not been consistent with its use but it’s the only thing that makes me feel like my ingrown toenail is reversing.

Not Worth It
These were very difficult to place under the corner of toe nail. The metal tools work fine to lift the nail, but everything else didn’t work well.

Great for preventing bad ingrown toenails
Got these a while ago. Was nervous to try and finally got around to using them. The little tools are SO helpful. The guards slide on nicely. I haven’t actually had to soak my feet to get them on. But the spots I am using them for aren’t significantly ingrown or infected. They probably hurt worse than they look. These are awesome for preventing bad ingrown toenails. I’d say my toenails are regular thickness. They sometimes are brittle and break at the edges but it’s still easy enough for the guards to slide on and far enough down to help the nail grow out.
