Practical wisdom for living a simpler life
When we fritter away our one and only life doing things that don’t really matter, we sacrifice the things that do matter, according to Bill Hybels in this book. Simplified living requires more than just organising your closets or cleaning out your desk drawer. By examining core issues that lure you into frenetic living, and by eradicating the barriers that leave you exhausted and overwhelmed, you can stop doing the stuff that doesn’t matter and build your life on the stuff that does. The ten practices involve replenishing your energy reserves, prioritising and restricting your schedule, mastering your finances, aligning your job with your passions, forgiving, overcoming fears, deepening relationships, finding a life verse, moving on to new seasons in your life, and finding satisfaction in God’s purpose for your life.As is the case with any book by Bill Hybels, this book is filled with practical wisdom, mostly garnered from his own extensive ministry experience. Bill has worked harder, seen more success, encountered more problems, found more solutions, and had his life more open to public scrutiny than the vast majority of Christian leaders. This means that he has plenty of entertaining personal anecdotes, but it also means that his advice comes with the genuine conviction of one who has been there before.

Practical guide to simplifying your life
I had never heard of this author but found the book laying by itself on a shelf. I read it and loved it so much that I bought a couple more for friends. This is a Christian author who has faced trials in his life but writes in an engaging manner which can help your Christian walk. Hard to put down the book.

Comprehensive Approach To Simplifying Your Life
While reading this book, I was reminded of how I have made so many decisions that have complicated my life, and that it takes more than one or two choices to simplify it. Hybels addresses all areas of our lives and gives practical prescriptions for improving in those areas. Don’t breeze by the action steps at the end of each chapter. They are excellent.

read this
I got this for a men's group I go to (when I can), and they are using this book. I read it in a few days time, and I really like it. This, and "Too busy not to pray" convinced me that Hybels is a genuine, spiritually gifted leader, and this book is a game changer for me.

Meh. Skip It.
A couple helpful insights, but mostly redundant and disconnected for real life. It is a book about Bill, how wonderful he is, and how well he has organized his executive world around his wants. Some helpful information, but nothing you couldn't find in any self help book. Bill: "Look at me and how successful I am. You can do it too." That's it.

A great tool to get back on track after a season of being overwhelmed
This book is a game changer for anyone who feels like they are running on empty. It guides you to honest evaluation and the action steps help you refine what God has given you in your time, energy, family, work...really all aspects of life. Now that I've read it, I will use this as a refresher resource for life.

... of 'for a book about simplifying your life it's pretty long - surely all it needs to say it ...
I've read/heard a lot of comments along the lines of 'for a book about simplifying your life it's pretty long - surely all it needs to say it simplify your life' and they've all clearly misunderstood the principle behind simplifying your life. In this excellent book, Hybels deconstructs decades worth of baggage attached to Christian living, and offers instead practical ways to change your habits and lifestyle. Of course the book is long! Each chapter is full of Biblical insight, wisdom and practical advice built upon 40 years of pastoring one of the largest churches in America. This book is definitely worth buying and devouring

A good read to simplify life for greater meaning and fulfilment
I bought this to read on holiday from my role as a Pastor. It was affirming my holiday! This is a good read for anyone who needs to simplify their life to find greater meaning and fulfilment. Once more, Bill Hybels manages to distill big ideas into nugget sized bits of wisdom. Thanks for yet another good book!

An excellent book. Very clear, precise and simple yet challenging and provoking in encouraging us to look at the 'busyness' of our lifes and put down what is not necessary or helping. Planning to read again to apply the practicalities of living a simplified life! High recommend to anyone who is looking to take stock, step back and have a good look inside their hearts. It will start a chain reaction for good within and without! Enjoy!!

A 'simple' yet profound resource
A great read that if you allow it to will have a great impact on your life. Written with great insight and wisdom, this book will help you take stock of your life and if you allow it to, it can help you make some life giving changes to the way you do life. His use of scripture throughout is so helpful to see how the simplifying principles are grounded in the Word of God.

There is some great wisdom here
There is some great wisdom here, but also a lot of dross. It's worth a (quick) read, and dwelling on the parts that are worthwhile.
