Best in test.
I tested a number of wicks and fuels in Feuerhand lanterns to determine the difference in terms of brightness, longevity and smoke. These wicks worked the best with all fuels and required the least trimming. They are the most tightly woven of the wicks I tested. Let them soak a little longer initially for best results. Work with all fuels; K-1 will always burn brightest, but with paraffin oil (liquid paraffin with no scent) these burn the brightest and won’t smoke with proper wick adjustment.

What’s wrong????
I’m new at purchasing antique oil lamps for use. I have two large lamps, both with antique Eagle burners. These type of burners have no holes around the collar inside the chimney.I bought this wick in 7/8” size, which installed easily and seems to fit perfectly. However, after lighting the fully soaked wick, the flame shrinks. No matter where I set it below the top of the burner, it will not hold a bright flame, but dies down.I’ve read that you’re not supposed to run an oil lamp with the wick above the top of the burner because that disrupts the combustion process and burns the wick itself for fuel, but I can’t get a good flame without doing so.So I’ll be looking around at other wicks, as well as possibly changing my burners to Queen Anne style. I don’t know if this is the fault of the wick quality or type, or there is some other reason. I can’t find anything specific to my problem when searching on the internet.

Not worth the time or money
I need to replace several of wicks in my oil lamps. I collect antique oil lamps and use them whenever we have power outages. I recieved this roll a few days ago and started to replace my wicks. When I do this I always soak it , trim it, light it and let it burn for a little while so that when its needed there are no bad surprises. Well this wick burns fast , very fast! Then smokes worse than I've ever seen when you blow it out, they all smoke some but this was crazy. I don't know if I can return it after using a part of the roll. But I sure wont ever buy it again. If fit and loaded great but its crap! If all u want it for it to Look useful then this is for you but, if like me , you want it to work shop some place else. I'm going to try antiquelampsupplies.com.

Very thick cording, did not fray when cut.
I purchased this roll to use as a self watering feeder for a Cub Scout growing project. The wicking ability that this cord offered was used to feed water to seeds the boys planted upswing recycled soda bottled inverted. It works wonderful and they already have plants sprouting after just two weeks. It’s wicking ability is perfect in keeping the soil moist and it couldn’t have turned out better.

Poor quality wick. Look elsewhere.
Really bad stitching on one side. Wick is asymmetrical which makes it impossible to use. I tried it in two different Dietz Vestas. The wick raiser wouldn't work because the wick kept bunching up inside. Worked just fine with the original wicks. Kind of sad that wicks that are generation or more old work better than these new ones. Terrible quality. I've ordered three times from this seller and had to return the wicks every time due to quality issues. Look elsewhere.

Exactly what I needed for homemade IPA emergency lamps!
Exactly what I was looking for. I used this to make my own mini mason jar alcohol lamps to replace the store bought “100hr emergency” ones we use during power outages in the winter. They always burn so dirty and uneven leaving soot everywhere and a dirty feel/smell in the air. This wick placed in jars with an alcohol/distilled water mix burn steady, safe, super clean, and for a very long time.

Excellent Quality
Bought this wick for my kerosene table lamp I bought back in 1969. Wick fits perfect with no problem. Hard to believe this lamp as come through life with me.

Works perfectly in my 1850s oil lamp
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this wick material for a flint glass oil lamp I found at an antique shop. The lamp was complete with a burner and chimney, but without wick material. This wicking works well in the lamp. The only thing I noticed is when the oil level in the font is about half-full, the flame burns very low because I guess the wick can't carry enough oil to sustain it. I don't think that's the fault but rather the design of the lamp. It's elegant because of it's slender profile, but because it doesn't have a shallow but broad font, it is sensitive to the oil level. As you can see in the video, the fount is very deep, which is probably why I need to keep it more than about half-full.
