Excitement from beginning to end

As always with the Evan Smoak series, the book is great, packed with detail and the highs are as fast paced as it gets. But this isn't quite as exciting as the others in the series. Seems the author has taken a bit of a turn towards the emotional layers, which is great usually, but on this occasion a little too much too often, it lost the edge and pace and took me ages to get through. Still love the series though.

Each book in the Orphan X series just gets better, and the sixth instalment is no exception. Prodigal Son sees Evan Smoak wrestling with what it means to have a family, peeling back layers of his character to reveal his vulnerabilities.The story is action packed as usual, with a thought-provoking threat for Evan to face. The usual characters return, and are developed in their own right as well as providing a reflection for Evan's expanding depths. I love all of them, which is part of the allure of the series.Prodigal Son ends on a huge cliffhanger, which makes me even more eager than usual to read number seven, which I believe is called Dark Horse. Hurry back Orphan X!

I tend not to bother with thrillers these days, as the only person who impressed me in decades was Lee Child. However, there is no way I would miss one of Mr Hurwitz's Orphan X thrillers. Whereas I would enjoy the adventures of, but would not want to be, say, James Bond or Jack Reacher, I'd actually like to be this hero, Evan Smoak - instead of just a vehicle for violence, and a superbly competent one, he is a character of depth and integrity. But even if you don't care about that, these are as exciting as hell, with tremendously impressive technical details as well as great stories and great writing. Don't miss them if you love thrillers.

These adventures get better with each book. Supposedly a new chapter of Evan Smoaks life but a twist of fate draws him back into battle. I love this character and his irrepressible nerve in what seems an unlikely good outcome.. and yet he lives on. Great stuff Mr Hurwitz.

This is my third “Orphan X” book and they have all been good. This one however had a few more dimensions to it including a sixteen year old “Orphan” sidekick and a love interest, almost. Plus a virtual sci-fi element involving marauding A.I. dragon flies and bees which brought an almost comical aspect to the normal killing machine routine. As well as being exciting, fast moving, and readable, the book is also thought provoking and well deserves four stars.

A cracking read

A great series! Winding down to the last of the books! Well written! Gripping story line! Great character development! What's not to love!JUST READ IT!

Have loved all the books in the Orphan X series so far...hats off for the creative plots and story line, amazing and unusual information and trivia...the Vodka trivia is a class apart. Precise and explosive action is a thrill ride by itself....this book has a deadly cliffhanger for the first time.Loving the series and plan to read them all.... heartfelt thank you for providing premium entertainment to a thriller junkie

I have read every book in the series and thoroughly enjoyed every one. This book is no exception.I would like to see Joey, and especially Candy, play bigger roles in future books as they are great characters.By the way, I think it’s time to giveEvan a break and have him hook up with either Mia or Candy, with the latter being a better fit in many ways, and more realistic.
