Wurkkos made it right
First purchase of the DL40 was a disappointment wrt an early switch failure. Of course, I tested the device on land before ever using it on a dive. I returned the DL40 to Amazon for a refund. Too bad because I liked the unit, the build quality, precision, the feel and excellent price/value as well as the way the company produces very thorough and completely detailed technical summary and product descriptions and communication. Carrie, the Wurkkos agent, contacted me immediately, and offered to send me a different light to review (DL07), which btw I love. After testing the DL07, Carrie follow-up contacted me several times during and subsequent to this initial customer service process. I believe Wurkkos is genuinely a solid modern company, interested & invested in 1st rate quality and willingness to completely satisfy their customers as well as remedy errors. This has been my experience. Most recently, Carrie contacted me again to request that I test the DL40. I agreed. Again, Carrie immediately shipped a new flashlight that arrived from China in less than 1 week. I am happy to say that so far I am 100% pleased with the replacement DL40. Zero defects thus far. Note that I am a SCUBA instructor & mechanical engineer as well as dive industry related technology and application & services such as breathing air compression/purification, oxygen generation for EAN enrichment and desal water makers. When I dive I now carry the Dl07 and the DL40. Either light may serve as a backup as well as the versatility of the 2 very different flashlights provides complete coverage. (See the Wurkkos DL07 product description). The DL07 is a much smaller, compact light with multi spectrum (2 temperatures of white light + UV, Red). This is all high end, current Samsung LED tech. The DL07 easily fits in the BC pocket as a backup or absolutely can be a primary light as well. Tons of luminosity. One could argue and debate concepts of shape ergonomics, the switch type (momentary mag vs, rotating head, etc.) or any number of other physical features. Every manufacturer, be it a mask, a reg, a BC ... all approach the human interface a bit differently. So try the gear, learn it, implement it into your kit and routine and decide if it suits you. In the end it needs to be reliable and LAST in the harsh marine environment.I see Wurkkos, steadily building a solid reputation in the SCUBA world based on innovation, quality, value and customer support. Their present attractive price to value numbers are the best I have discovered so far. I will be the 1st to confirm that some Chinese product is mediocre at best. Wurkkos is not in that category. This is very good gear. Let's hope Wurkkos reliability remains intact & as good as the 1st rate customer support.STRONG , CONFIDENT RECOMMENDATION.EdM

Works at 128 feet
My concern with a dive light that does not cost over $500 is that it will not stand up to a deep dive. PADI says the depth limit for recreational diving is 130 feet. Without a full throttle life and death reason, casual divers should not go any deeper. It is not a contest. I am deeeeeeply suspicious of someone that asks me "What's the deepest you've ever gone?" Anyways, the other day I went to 128 feet according to my dive computer, and this light was on the whole time. Best of all, it still works! Those cheap yellow and silver lights died after one dive to less than 30 feet. I guess you get what you pay for. This one is not as bright as the really expensive ones, but for someone that does maybe four night dives a year (for now), it does the trick.

Amazing light.
Where to start? The light is bright. But it's not just bright - it's waterproof, easy to use, and the light is gorgeous. None of the almost-blue lights you find in the box stores, this is a creamy neutral white and it's high CRI too.The light comes with everything pictured - two batteries, adapters for 18650s, a two-bay charger that'll actually fit 26650s side-by-side, spare o-rings, and a lanyard. Plus the manual - but you won't need that. Click to turn on, click to change modes, hold to turn off. There's a small insulating sticker you'll need to remove before you use the light - but you should probably charge the batteries up all the way, too.To test the double O-rings at each end of the light, I left the it in a bucket of ice water overnight - in the morning, with some temperature change and ice melting, the inside of the light was still completely dry.I couldn't be more impressed with this light, and I look forward to the next offering by Wurkkos.

Big and heavy.
So full disclaimer. I haven’t gotten any salt on this thing yet. It is very bright. Seems like it is going to be easy to use underwater. I really like the warmth of the hue. It is a warmer color like an older incandescent bulb. It is fairly bright and it seems like the battery will hold up well from the time I have been playing with it. It’s big. It’s heavy. I can see using it on a night dive but I am not going to just keep this thing clipped to my BCD like I would on a regular day dive. If your BCD has pouches I think it would be fine. I have a hydros pro so not going to work for me. I will keep it for night dives but will be looking for a smaller light for everything else. But I REALY like it! I think it is going to be a great light.

First Impressions are Very Good!
First impressions are important...and so far very good! Although I have not yet used this for diving, I intend on updating this review once the time is right. But build quality is sound. Excellent machining on the body. The threads are cut clean and the head and caps remove easily to reveal double o ring gaskets on both ends... spares also provided. The 26650 batteries pack plenty of punch but if you wanted some backups you have 18650 sleeves to allow use of 18650s if you have them. The charger works as expected with indicator LEDs for charging status. Light output is reasonably even with a central hot spot and softer spot to the sides with the color temperature being a neutral white 5000K. The lens is a nicely polished reflector with perfectly clear glass. Reported beam distance is 437 yards. I wouldn't be surprised if it's further than that. There is a nice output range between modes with 4 modes topping off at 5000LM turbo. A 3+ hour run time on turbo is impressive! And a low mode of 300LM is quite bright, but seems about perfect once you're under water. The switch is easy to operate, even with gloves on. More to come soon!
