It looks like something your engineer friend might cobble together by hand - if he knew exactly what he was doing, and he did good work, using solid materials. The vacuum chamber is simple, but very effective. The temperature regulator is fully customizable and appears to be reliable. They might think about putting some manner of diffuser over the bottom of the air stem - when you open the air filter up when the chamber is at full vacuum, the force of equalization can play havoc with anything delicate inside the chamber, especially fluids, which it can splatter - even thick ones. But once you learn to ease that valve open slooooowly, this kit is nothing but genius. I thought it a bit pricey for handmade gear when I bought it, at its size, and was more thinking that once I saw how this worked, I'd try an make a larger one on my own -- but when I got it and started looking at the material quality, and then used it and saw how well and reliably it works, I'm pretty happy with what I got. And the size ends up being a good size, realistically, at least for one hobbyist puttering around on their own.

Well I'm not giving it five stars for one reason and it was because it did explain any where about what voltage to use paperwork said to use 240v.So i wired the plug for 240v and fried it of course. Not to mad because there support team is incredible and fast! They found what happened and had me a new setup sent out the same day came way faster then the original shipping. The setup works awesome and the heat pad is almost dead on so helps out a lot. The seal is great and the valves and lid work great as well. Can't wait to get a bigger model next.

Worked great for a few. Then I started to notice my product was slipping and there seemed to be a oil film from time to time. Didn't realize the vac gauge had ruptured and was spraying the inside with a fine film each time I released the pressure.Either get a better gauge or include a plug to remove it altogether.

Works great for me. Holds vacuum and temp. Got a single stage pump and it pulls 25inches hg at high altitude. Holds temp nicelyGreat seller who was responsive
