Really nice flickable knife
Initially I couldn't get it to move at all... Assist me on nothing? Well I peppered the main parts with PB Blaster and let sit for 24 hours and a firm flick and the blade flies out! It's a fun knife after you loosen it up! Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the button to close it even after the PB Blaster you have to push up from the very bottom rung for it to to work. Break it in and it opens like a champ and feels really good in the hand. Closing it is the issue. 5 star knife with 4 star closing problems. Love the knife but when closing it anywhere but the bottom groove and it just wont move/close. Maybe it's just my knife? who knows. Everything else 5 star but gotta dock it thereI originally only rated this 4 stars when it was new and everything was really tight. Had it now about a week and between the PB Blaster and minimal flicks with it has loosened up enough to be fun but still really tight in it's action. Durability is the only thing I don't know about but have always had good things from Gerber.

Bought 3 years ago - carried every day
I purchased this knife in Sept 2011. I have carried it every single day and I use it every single day. To me, a knife is a tool and there is no substitute for having a good tool. The FAST action is excellent. I can open the knife quickly and efficiently as it is designed to do. Every few months, I do need to tighten the screws a little bit. You'll need a Torx T6 to do this properly. Like any other mechanical device, this knife has moving parts and occasionally requires adjustment. You could probably use threadlocker on the screws but I haven't tried that yet as the adjustment is easy and is accomplished in seconds.I definitely don't abuse this knife, although I do use it very often. I cut all sorts of material with it from cardboard to tape to plastic and just about anything else that would be considered normal usage. I also have used it for some more of the obscure things like needing to cut through reinforced nylon straps in a hurry. I even carry this knife while swimming in pools and open water in case of an emergency. Many people have been known to get their hair caught underwater in pool filters and who knows what one could get tangled in out in the open water. In three years' time, the knife has a few scuffs on it and the two small screws above the safety are MIA. However, it is mechanically sound and its operation is still perfect. The clip is also still very tight and can be easily adjusted (if needed) by removing it and bending it slightly back to tension.I have sharpened this knife using a proper stone around 12 - 15 times. It continues to hold a nice edge and as long as the mechanics of the knife hold up, the blade should last for decades at this rate.I highly recommend this knife.

I thought it would be “bigger” (That’s what she said.)
I own a LOT of knives. Gerber is a hit-or-miss maker for me. I typically either love or hate their knives. This is a rare one for me, as a Gerber knife left me with mixed feelings. My most important measure of a knife is the price-point vs. quality. ... I paid just south of $50 for this one. The Mini Covert is NOT a $50 knife. I do not recommend. What I liked:- The Spring Assist is snappy, quick and abrupt. I likes!- The blade (like always from Gerber) came brutally sharp and ready to use.- I think I’m in the minority, but I LIKE a mixed blade edge (serrated and plain) and this one has a nice mix of both.- The scales and frame feel like quality materials.- There’s a mechanical safety on this one, and you can choose to carry it safety on or off. For a spring assisted knife with a blade edge I just described as “brutally sharp,” I very much appreciate a safety. Especially when I consider my pocket’s proximity to my highly prized personal equipment. What I did not like:- It’s small! ... This is not a knife for “man hands.” I read the specs, including the measurements before buying. Also, there’s a big clue that it’s NOT a big knife in the model name. So yeah, “Mini” was not lost on me either... Yet I was STILL surprised at how small it felt when actually in my hand. This knife would probably be best suited for a teen or woman with small hands rather than an adult dude like myself.- The safety that I do appreciate being there, seems a little hokey as to how it’s made, and the cheap slide switch operation.- The blade steel typical from Gerber can take a brutal edge. Which makes for a great little stabby-bits blade; But does not fair as well holding the edge. It’s a better tactical weapon than a multi-use EDC. But only if it were bigger. This knife is for a woman, young teen, or smallish man, that is in need of a stabby-bits folder on a budget. Kind of a smaller market I’d think. ... To me, an adult sized male, it doesn’t really feel like something I’m all that comfortable in using

Great quality. Gerber has always been a cut above.
I was a little skeptical at first wondering if the smaller knife would be of the same quality as the full size knife. I was pleasantly surprised. All you need to do is use a quality sharpener and you will be good to go.
