No replacement for a cable connection. (**WARNING FOR IOS 13**)
So I bit the bullet! After a long period of deliberation I purchased the adaptor. So far....It was relatively easy to set up but other than that it’s to early to comment fully on this little unit.I can say from just testing it whilst sat in the garage that the following became evident.1. It’s prone to interference from using climate control, I observe multiple blips, that is split second breaks in play.2. Now this may be amplified more by the fact that the car has B&O speakers but you could tell that the sound reproduction compared with Audi’s own Bluetooth steam was lower in clarity/quality. It still sounds OK as after all it’s digital so there is a base line achieved here, but it just didn’t hit the spot for me.However it did address the one thing I’ve been frustrated with with my past 3 Audi’s and that’s interactive control that Audi’s own Bluetooth streaming is sadly lacking in.It’s early days yet but I’m going to test for a week and then come back with an overall opinion about this.********************************************************************************************************************************** WARNING******* Update on 02 10 2019Just a massive warning to all iPhone users out there. It would appear that after the update "IOS13" the device no longer functions as expected. If you have IOS 13 or you are going to upgrade soon then beware, after the upgrade you will NO LONGER be able to skip tracks when in a play list, like you could on the previous IOS. You can fast forward the track and control the volume but you CAN NOT Skip. This is a massive problem for me as I use playlists daily and so the device, in its current state, is useless. Not ideal at £90!I have contacted the seller to see if they have a solution, maybe a later firmware or a replacement unit that is compatible. Hopefully they will be very helpful and I will be able to update you all as to the progress and satisfactory resolution of the issue. There is every chance the seller has not yet discovered the issue for them selves and so I encourage anyone who has just discovered the issue to report it to the seller.**Just for clarity, i have tested the device with my wife's iPhone that was not on IOS 13 and it worked as expected, then I upgraded her phone to IOS 13 and it stopped working just like my iPhone.**I will keep you all posted.************************************************************Update 03 10 2019Turns out this is a known issue with Apple!!I went back to my AMI Cable this morning and the same happens with that.So its not just an issue for this product, but BE AWARE it will happen with this product when used in conjunction with any Apple device running IOS 13 or higher.I spoke with both Audi technical and Apple support this morning and they are both aware of the issue and are working on a fix for the software that is used in the Audi/VW MMI head units.**** Until a fix is available in the form of an official Audi software update, YOU WILL NOT be able to use this device within playlists with an iPhone ruining IOS 13 or higher. *******The next scheduled Audi update is due in December, I can only hope this fix is in it other wise this unit is useless. Don't say you were not warned folks!I will keep you posted.Cheers**************************************************Update 08 10 2019The seller has been in touch about a full refund. They acknowledge that this product is not fit for purpose in its current state and they say their engineers are working on it. They have asked that I increase my Star rating to 3, this i can not do as the product does not function correctly and no matter how they work on it, it wont until Audi and Apple fix the issue. The seller has been very friendly and although I cant except a refund via PAY PAL ( i don't use PayPal) I appreciate the offer all the same.** I have changed the rating up to 2 stars due to their involvement and even though they can not fix this issue, they have shown willing to help. The star rating here is for the product though so it would be wrong of me to lift it any higher than a "2 Star" bearing in mind the product, within these parameters, does not function correctly or as a consumer would expect.**The message remains the same here................If you have an Audi using the older AMI system and use an Apple device on version IOS 13 or higher, this device will not allow you to skip through tracks on a playlist, sequentially or otherwise.I would STRONGLY recommend you wait until the next update from Audi or consult your nearest service centre to see if one is available that addresses this issue. The service centre will be aware of the issue as it impacts the proper use of the AMI system via the cable that comes with the AMI system as well as this product. (this product just fools the car and translates the Bluetooth to the cable input)I can't make up your mind for you, so if you really want to spend £90+ on this unit even though you have been warned, then that's your issue. You will just end up returning it anyway so why bother!I feel this maybe my last update for a while or at least until Audi provide a fix that makes this unit usable again.Until then, good luck folks!*****************************************************************************************************Update: 28 10 2019Audi have conformed (i've had my car in for a service) that the issue is with Apple and its widespread. This unit will not function correctly until release an update by Apple to remedy. it is affecting more than just MMi, Apple car play has also been affected.Just to be clear here: The seller has offered to refund via an Amazon voucher (my idea as i don't use paypal) So far i'm yet to receive the vouch code, ill keep you all posted.Cheers*******************************************************************************************************Update: 01 11 2019So Apple have now updated the IOS to a version that seems to have fixed the issue!!! **Version - 13.2**If you have an IOS device (Iphone/POD/PAD) and have an Audi that has the AMI/MMI system then it should now be working. I have not heard from my friends yet so I can't be sure if various other VAG cars are ok but I can say for certain that my SQ5 and my wifes Q5 are working now.Just beware that any subsequent "updates" by Apple my inadvertently break it again.Would I recommend this product now its working........Probably not, due the chance it may fail on future updates but if you can get it at a reduced price (I paid £90.00) then it may be worth the risk if you feel the benefit each day. This will be my last update now. I hope the seller states the the IOS restrictions in the sales description moving forward as this will avoid any disappointment.I have changed my rating to 2 stars now from 1 ( it's not worth the price as of today £97.00)Cheers

Works as it should
Easy to install in AMI port, won't appear "Live" until you pair the phone. I don't seem to be able to unplug it to test in a friend's car, so that's the only downside. Or not, if you like things to stay put. No hiss and the Bluetooth connection sounds great on the B&O in mine. So well happy and would recommend.Sometimes, it *always* want to be playing music it seems (I use Sp*tify), so even when I close this down, in about five seconds the music starts again and Spotify is back running. I don't know whether this is the app or the adapter reconnecting and auto-playing.The odd time (maybe one time out of 30?), the phone is silent, even though everything is connected as it should be and the handset is on bluetooth, nothing comes through. But again, Bluetooth on anything isn't 100% predictable so could be my phone, the head unit, or the adapter. It seems to fix itself if you turn it off and on again.

Exceeded my expectations - car Mercedes eClass Cabriolet 2010 (w212 - Command APS)
Wow what an excellent product. I had two goes at installing it, the second after I had read the instructions and put it in IPod mode as recommended for my iPhone 11. I can now see the titles of my tracks playing and my playlists on my COMAND screen and I can use the car controls to manage my music. I had to disable BT Audio using the engineer menu on the car otherwise the Airdual and the BT Audio seemed to fight for control of my audio. However once BT audio was disabled Airdual seems to work seamlessly with my Mercedes. I will will update this review if anything changes but so far the AirDual gets a massive thumbs up from me - just put put your glasses on and read the instructions before you plug it in!

It works really well...
...and, if I'm honest, having read some of these reviews, I didn't expect it to. I have a 2011 Audi A8, so its the D4 model. I'm using an iPhone 12 running iOS 14. After pairing to the car it connects every time the car is electrically powered and appears in the source list as iPhone. Apple music is the only menu system that loads but that is a huge improvement on the previous situation. It took a while for the menus and play lists to populate. In fact I'd taken out the car handbook to see if I was missing something and when I looked up again a few minutes later it was all there. It's controllable from the steering wheel and the songs appear between the dials if selected. The mute button on the wheel actually pauses the song or story. It will play Audible too but only if initiated from the iPhone. After that limited control, such as pause, is available from the car. The only slight glitch is, if you want to listen to music after hearing a book, the only way I've found to allow control from the car systems is to turn bluetooth off and then back on. It will still play without doing this if initiated and then controlled from the phone though. The sound quality is superb too. I only have the Bose system, not the B&O but it is crystal clear with a rich bass. I was going to get a system fitted (for lots more money) that would hijack the MMI and put Apple CarPlay on it instead but this level of functionality is enough for me. Maybe a future update could handle the phone too? I highly recommend this bluetooth dongle.

Disappointed, expected better for £90
First of all for £90 I’d expect this product to work better than it does! Never connects first time, has to be disconnected and forget this device in Bluetooth settings on phone before it will even connect, if you scroll too quickly on the steering wheel controls it goes totally messed up and plays something not even in my music playlists or saved to phone just plays something totally random! Doesn’t always display correct playlist name! If it’s a cold morning you’ve got no chance of this working in the slightest!! When it works it’s good, is it £90 good? No not at all. I’ve had this since December and because it’s so temperamental I’m now thinking of replacing my Audi head unit for a Sony/Kenwood with AppleCarPlay built in as I’m sick of the aggravation trying to get this working/connected!
