Deserves an excellent rating
I bought this for the first time several years ago and loved it. For some reason it became scarce for the past two years. Very glad to have it back, although in limited availability. It is a delightful chewy rice with an excellent flavor. you won't regret buying it.

Great rice
I love using this rice. It's got great flavor and texture and is pretty easy to prepare. Normally I focus on perfecting the stuff I add to my rice and honing in on the right ingredients and spices for that, but it's quite amazing how much better something can be if you just have the right rice to elevate it. I normally use long grained rice, but this short grain was a nice change of pace.

A beautifully sticky rice, but it may take some effort to perfect
Per the instructions on the bag, I rinsed the rice a bit before combining one cup rice with one cup water. I brought it to a boil then reduced to low, covered the pot, and simmered. Rather than waiting a full 20 minutes, however, I only waited 12-15 before checking the rice (I've overcooked rice in the past by leaving it too long). Glad I checked; the rice was cooked pretty well already and had also stuck on the bottom of the pan as the water was fully gone. I wondered if part of the issue may have been that I allowed too much water vapor to escape before covering the pot. I may also have simmered on too high of a temperature. What I can say is this: the rice that was cooked (and not stuck) was cooked nicely. The flavor was good. Individual grains were visible, but it clumped together nicely. My husband remarked that it would be great for sushi, and he was right. I think I'm going to need some practice to get the method right, but overall I'm a fan of this rice.

Excellent rice
This short grain rice is dynamite for any Asian dish. Makes nice and sticky rice in the rice cooker. Lovely nutty aroma and a subtle taste. Definitely wise to wash the rice well before cooking it or it'll be *too* sticky, I give it a few minutes under a cold tap til the draining water starts to clear somewhat. You get what you pay for, this is worth it.

New family favorite
Some may think, "its rice? its all the same!" But I'd say "you probably don't eat a lot of rice do you?"Quality rice can be hard to find sometimes but this bag delivered. The short grain rice cooks well and I did not find any burnt or bad pieces. No weavel bugs either, which for some reason the bags from Costco always seem to have. The wife actually said how much she likes the smaller grains of this rice so seems like its a win with the family! Worth getting!

Delicious rice
This rice is so flavorful. I don't think the package instructions worked well for me, but with a small adjustment to the cooking method, it produced some really delicious rice.

Ok rice, ignore the cooking instructions
Following the directions on the package didn't even completely wet the rice and it immediately tried to clump/stick to the pan as it came to a boil, I added another cup of water. At the 20 minute point the rice was still very crunchy in the middle and drying out so I added more water. 10 minutes later a little less crunchy but needed more water. 10 minutes after that still a bit of crunch in the middle, outside getting mush. Another 10 minutes I had some OK gummy rice, still a slight crunch in some grain centers, it tasted nice but nothing special and certainly not special enough to be over 6 bucks a pound. I don't make sushi but what I ended up with I've never seen in sushi and the texture would be all wrong and would likely be a squishy mess. I really don't know what I'll do with the rest. It's surprising that such small grains were so resistant to cooking. It would probably be best (long) cooked away in some soup or other dish where the rice is cooked at the same time instead of separate. I do appreciate that it says it's organically grown in California without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

Delicious!
I followed the instructions (almost completely) and this rice turned out great! I made it in my rice cooker (sorry to anyone who is horrified by such a cooking method, but for me it's tried and true) with equal parts rice and water. I did let the rice sit in water for a minute, then drained it and refilled it before cooking, as we prefer our rice a little bit less sticky/starchy and it was the right decision for us this time as well. The texture was just right and the grains of rice weren't too stuck together. The bag says to let it sit for 10 minutes after cooking and I let it sit for about 8 minutes - it was just a TINY bit softer than I prefer, I'd probably leave it for maximum 4-5 minutes next time and then I think it'll be perfect. The flavor was excellent and mild and it went perfectly with our teriyaki steak. I also love that it's organic and made in the USA! Would recommend.
