If you want to plug things in and have them work. BUY THIS.
Hey ya'll, this thing works! I plugged it into my computer and then plugged other things into this thing and it did the thing it was designed to do. How awesome!Listen; I'm a normal dude with a normal life. I didn't hook up probes and prongs to this thing to measure voltage and all that. Good for you if you do that, but I'm not a peewee 3rd string electrician, so I'm not into all that. What I did do, is plug this into my computer and then plug in a usb gaming controller and then a usb PC gaming headset and a usb snowball microphone and guess what? They all worked! If you're looking for a decently priced option for adding usb 3.0 ports to your laptop or PC, get this thing! The build quality isn't the greatest, but at this price point you're not paying for marble or carnival glass (get real folks). It's plastic and kinda' lightweight so you can expect the heavier usb plugs to flip this thing over all the time. (I actually used 3M velcro strips to attach this to my desk so it doesn't move). The cord that attaches to your computer isn't the longest either, so you may want to think of another option if you want to place this kinda' far away from your PC or laptop. Other than that, I can't find any reason NOT to recommend this. If you like to keep things simple then buy this. If you're like me and you still live in the make believe land where released products just work for their intended purpose when you turn them on or plug them in, buy this. It's worth the money!(I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 because 4 stars is "I like it" and 5 stars is "I love it!". I don't have any hate for this product but I also don't want to marry it and have its children, so, 4 stars.)

Awesome little USB 3.0 hub, will charge devices slowly with external power
I bought this in 2018 for $10.99 and it did not come with an external power supply. I purchased a cheap 5V 2A power supply to go with this and it will satisfy the power needs of my M-Audio digital audio unit and as you can see from the screen capture it will also slowly charge my phone. If you want this to be a primary USB power source for your devices you would be better off buying a hub with a smart charging port but for me this is fine for occasional charging. Data transfer is ridiculously fast. My only complaints are superficial, I wish it were a little heavier so it would stay put on my table, and I'm a little jealous my version doesn't have the micro USB port. Make this thing a little beefier and stick a couple SD ports in it and this would be the perfect accessory for my Surface Pro tablet. I guess I'll have to do some hillbilly engineering to get this thing to stay put. $19.99 is a great deal, I probably paid more to buy the separate power supply.

Good USB hub
My old hub's connection became intermittent so I purchased this one. I have a printer, scanner, wireless mouse & keyboard, and Kingston card reader connected and they all work fine with out the external power. The AC adapter from my old hub is the same specification as need for this hub so I did plug it in and it works plugged in as well. All of the devices I have connected are low power and are not typically used at the same time so the external power is not required, so I have it unplugged at this time. I have other USB 3.0 connections where my external HDD's are connected and the wires are in too much of a tangle so I didn't connect them to this hub to see if they would work and transfer at 3.0 speeds and reliably power from the hub. Maybe if I get bored some day I will try it. This hub does come with a power cable, but you need to provide your own power source. However; you probably have one laying around from one of your cell phones. This hub is priced right and works well. Time will tell if it is reliable.

Works great until you plug in 3 HDDs
All in all this works fantastically. This has been working great for the last couple years. I am having one HDD that was making slight noise so I got another one to back up. With 3 usb 3.0 drives plugged in I was only getting 30 to 50 MB/s and one would... stall? For 1/4 second(enough to take transfer speed to 0 but after spinning back up it continued fine). After ejecting the drive I wasn't using transfer speeds went up to 110MB/s with no stalls and transfered 1.8 terabytes in around 4 to 5 hours. This is without power and plugged into a USB 3.0.

Works great. I have it plugged into my iMac and ...
Works great. I have it plugged into my iMac and the cord length is perfect to have accessible ports without a bunch of extra wire. Very lightweight and solid design and build. My only gripe is that when I plug my iPad into it, the display will say "not charging" so I still have to plug that into the back of my machine. Other than that, it works fine as a charger for my iPhone and microUSB devices. Also, as a hub for other USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices.

Nice, but watch out for its uses
I actually bought this then 2 seconds later realized I didn't need it but instead of 2$ refund they offered I took it... wasn't disappointed it saved me now that I need more USB ports and it's 3.0 so I can plug in important stuff like sound cards, and controllers, HOWEVER when plugging it into the wall either way IT DOESN'T CHARGE AN IPHONE 6 idk y but I didn't intend it for that anyway so I still like it, sturdy construction to doesn't feel all that cheap, would recommend

Good except for USB SuperDrive
Pairs well with the LG Ultrafine 5k Monitor when used with a USB-C to USB-A Adapter. There is not enough power for OSX not to complain when the USB SuperDrive is connected, even when the USB power cable is plugged into a 2.1A Apple iPod charger. Can't find an alternative that will power the SuperDrive except for plugging it into the 5K display or the Macbook Pro directly.
