Fun, relatable and...and you'll feel it working!
This is a solid beginner and also intermediate set of workouts featuring Valerie and her personal trainer. The beginner workout is fun and yet challenging, with modifications that can be made so virtually anyone can feel confident and safe. The bikini workout is a LOT tougher, so you might want to work your way up to it. Both workouts include free weight work, lunges, core work, and lots of arm strengthening as well. Total body.I have to admit, though I enjoyed her "Losing It" book first, I really didn't expect her video to be this good. After all, she's not an exercise guru, a la Denise Austin or a cheerleader-type like Chalene Johnson. What Valerie has going for her is realism and that "neighbor next door" vibe that might just lure even the most hesitant person into getting up off the couch. Plus, her trainer makes SURE that the moves are done safely and effectively. (My bod could feel it after the first workout!)Fun fact: This is the THIRD time I've had to purchase this DVD...people keep running off with it. This copy is staying on my own shelf this time. :)Bottom line: If you like Bertinelli to begin with, you'll probably enjoy this end up liking her all the more as you work your way through the movements. If you don't know her at all, you might just feel like you could be buddies if given the chance....or at least come away feeling like you're a little closer to your fitness goals. Enjoy!

Good exercise video workout
This workout is a good balance of exercises for someone who's looking for a workout to segue from a beginner to moderate exercise workout. When I haven't worked out regularly for awhile, I can just do the half session workout and then work back up to the full workout that's more intense and uses the actual weights. There's also a bonus abs workout that's mostly a bunch of crunches and stretches that actually makes your tummy feel the pain when you're out of shape, but keep at it and your body gets toned and in shape to withstand it. Valerie Bertinelli imparts a down-to-earth tone throughout the workout and makes you feel as if she's a fellow exercise class student. The trainer is also clear in his instruction. For a more intense workout also from the same Gaiam video line, the Kristi Yamaguchi video is a lot more strenuous...and good when you're in better shape. I think using both helps mix things up.

Workout - great for all levels
I ordered this cd of Valerie's and am amazed if anyone could say it wasn't worth it. Anything to get motivated is worth it!! After years of walking/biking and teaching yoga, I have to admit I've gotten lazy or maybe have chosen the easy route to working out instead of really hitting it. I walk the dogs almost daily, but don't do much else to get stay healthy and fit. This cd, while very simple to follow, is for everyone. And I mean everyone!! You can choose the easy 20 minute routine or go for more sweatin' and do the longer routine. If you are creative, these moves will lead to something more strenuous if that's what you want. But - easy to follow and it will make you smile while getting fit. Hate those routines that you have to have months of practice with to even master. Thank you Valerie! It's been a long time since I've been smiling at the end of a workout session!

Good workout; too much chatter
I really like this workout. It's not too grueling for my age but does give me a good workout. Their "slow" moves are different than my "slow" moves, but otherwise it's really good. However, as much as I like Valarie Bertinelli, she does way too much "cutsie" chatter during the workout. It wasn't too bad the first few times I exercised but now I dread hearing her constant comments. I guess she wants some input as it is her workout dvd, but boy it gets old fast.Otherwise, I'd recommend it for someone who is getting back to exercising, like me, and/or a senior, like me.

This dvd is wonderful
I've owned this dvd for quite some time now and I credit the Level 2 workout with getting me in great shape. I love it so much that I purchased it again for someone else. It's not one of those daunting exercise videos that you dread having to face. I use 5 lb. weights and it's quite a workout but it's fun, fast, and effective. The dvd says the Level 2 workout is 40 minutes but it's only 28 minutes on my dvd and that includes warm up and cool down. The abs challenge in the bonus section is only 3 minutes but it's seriously intense and I throw that in once in awhile. Despite what some reviewers say, this dvd - especially the Level 2 workout - is not for beginners. I can only assume that those reviewers would be better matched with the hardcore P90X workout. If you want a workout you can live with, buy this dvd.

Love Valerie, an ok begginer's intro to moving again!
I am not an active person, and I like Valerie Bertinelli, she has always seemed genuine to me, and as the price was right I thought I would try this dvd workout. I have owned it probably over a year now and have used it off and on when I have been a couch potato AGAIN and needed to move, for that purpose, it is a good choice for a sedentary person like me. I only do the standing exercises, the floor exercises are not for me! It got me moving and onto more activity after I got used to moving more again. Valerie is really pleasant and a little sarcastic, which I can relate to, and the fact that she struggles with her weight like the rest of middle aged women was also a plus!

Amazing workout!
I do TOTALT recommend this product for anyone who is in the mood for full on exercise!!The moves are easy to follow, instructions are clear, the only thing a big negative is that the pace is fairly quick and sometimes its not easy to tag along (not really negative but whatever) you get a grip of it but takes a couple of times to get in the flow!I usually do the secong workout, the first one is to short and does not do much :pWorth every penny! :)

I really like it.
You have two different workouts. One is 20 min and the other 40 min and really gets your blood pumping. They explain the exercises well as you go along and you have fun doing it.

Valerie Bertinelli : Losing It and Keeping Fit
There are many problems with this tape. The instructer does not cue well. Valerie is not motivating, as she says silly things. The camera person, has the camera on Valerie's face when she does lunges,& you have to guess at what she is doing. I taught fitness classes for 15 years & I thought the tape was a mess. Canada
