Will this fit on the shelf of a medicine cabinet without falling out when you open the door?

It's too big to fit in a shelf of a medicine cabinet.. you can put it in the mirror of the medicine cabinet and it won't fall out.. the suction is really good

Can you pack this mirror in your suitcase without damaging it?

yes you can. However, I would suggest that you wrap it in some bubble wrap, put it in a ziplock bag face down and place it in the middle of your suitcase on top of soft clothing and more soft clothing above it. It is very sturdy and well made but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be treated respectfully. I am enjoying mine.
