You cannot wash it traditionally but you might be able to take it outside in the hot sun and wash it with a hose and soapy water, then rinse. Then allow it to dry in the hot sun and weather. It might take a day or two. That's what I would do. Hope this helps.

The easiest way to solve it is to stuff the basket with pillows or blankets (as tight as possible) and leave it like that for one or two days. This helps stretch out the rope, and your basket will soon be looking just like in the pictures.
