I have always liked my violin rest in the center not the traditional to the left of the tailpiece I also kind of like to cradle my violin, with my cheek, more than directly under my chin this is perfect for that. The Ebony is also very well carved and smooth as glass. It was very easy to install, and actually stays in place better than the one that came originally on my violin. It got to me quickly and in excellent condition.

most violinists are uncomfortable with the guaneri chinrest, which is default on most instruments. This chinrest is a good one to try. It fits most of my students much better. Occasionally I get students that aren't comfortable with this too, then we keep trying different styles. This is what is on my violin. A relatively inexpensive fix for priceless comfort!

I'm new to violin so I'm still trying to make things as comfortable as possible while playing. This chin rest works great for me. It may or may not work for you, depending on your body shape. I ordered a couple before finding this one that works well for me. You might be better off going to a shop and finding what you like before attempting to order online.The wood is nice and the bracket is sturdy. The only thing that I noticed with mine, is that the shape of the bottom of the wood doesn't exactly match my violin. You didn't want to over tighten it and harm the instrument so be careful when installing. Especially if it doesn't exactly match the contour like in my case.One other thing...$4.25 shipping charge when I ordered it. When I received the package, the shipping label said that it only cost $2.25 to send it.

The rest is well crafted, I just changed to a Kreddle as I needed an even taller one and because of my long arms center mount is not really for me.

For decades it never felt right. I switched to playing guitar for many years due to this. Finally this feels so comfortable and effortless. The violin is once again my friend now.I always thought a center chin rest would be better but never expected much of a difference, or else most violins would have been designed that way. But was I shocked !!! The difference was night and day. A life changing event : play violin once or twice a week instead of once a year or so.

Easy to install and seems like good quality but it doesn't clear the tailpiece. I have a hill model and I have to figure out how to customize it so it's not sitting on the tailpiece.

It looks good and seems well made. The height is better for people with longer necks. It helps to reduce neck clamping in this case. For myself, the center positioning is more comfortable as well.If you have a longer neck and tend to place your chin over the center where the tailpiece is try this style chinrest. This is a good price too so it is worth trying out.Posture depends on the player's discipline and training but also very much so on the setup. Don't suffer needlessly if the chinrest that came with your violin is not right for your body.
