This knife is an honest-to-goodness value. For $20, you can get a fine product.
This might be the best $20 knife I have ever seen. Using the words " nice knife" and the figure $20 in the same sentence might seem laughable, but here I am using both and being dead serious. This is a very good knife for the money. You could spend twice that and not get as good a product (or you may, how do I know?). If I am not mistaken, the MTech Xtreme line uses 440C steel (which this model has), and 440C is good stuff. Maybe on a par with AUS8. 440C isn't expensive, so makers like MTech can turn out inexpensive knives that are really quite good. Gotta give 'em credit. Fit and finish is decent, not perfect, but what little flaws there may be are totally unimportant. Quite sharp right out of the box, which is always a little surprising, especially in the case of an inexpensive blade. There is a grind at the top of the blade, which is not sharpened, then a 5 mm thickness (3/16 of an inch) through the middle, then the sharpened edge. I'm not sure what that means as far as strength is concerned, so you might not want to torque it from side to side, or use it as a prying tool, but otherwise the blade design looks fine; rather attractive, as a matter of fact. This is a fairly heavy knife, about a pound, I'm going to estimate. The handle material is a hard plastic, but feels okay, and isn't slippery. The sheath is, believe it or not, above average for this price range. So, for $20 you can get a heavy-duty knife with lots of good features. But I have to say, I do not like that double finger guard design. I find it uncomfortable and, as it is, this could never be my EDC sheath knife. It wouldn't be a problem for processing wood, because the back portion of the handle is big enough to grip and, with a lanyard, this could be a really fine chopper. But someone else may be totally okay with the design--all a matter of opinion. Who knows, maybe I could get used to it. I am very impressed, as a knife fancier with a modest collection, with the quality of MTech's Xtreme line. I can't speak about their other products, but the Xtreme knives are, in my limited experience, great values.

Great deal, great knife
Great value, thick full tang, could be sharper out of the box but a very easy fix, very nice design. This knife would definitely hold it's own against more expensive namebrand knives. I bought it as a Christmas present for my brother, now I want one for myself. Only complaint I have, which isn't really a complaint, is the sheath. It's nice in terms of material and thickness, it will definitely protect the knife and strap to your hip or pack. I believe it's worthy of a nice sleek leather sheath though. You save so much money on the knife itself that you could spend a buck or two on some scrap to make your own sheath. Again though, just my preference, not really a complaint.

A really good value on a very nice knife - after a wee bit of work on the grip scales.
Fit and finish were WAY better than expected. I think that MTECH USA must have stepped up their game significantly. The grip scales were just a LITTLE proud on this knife, but I can make them perfect with a little 400 grit sandpaper followed by 600 and perhaps some 1200. The scales are removable, so it should take me maybe 15-20 minutes to have them fit perfectly. Super sharp out of the box. As for the sheath, it looks decent. I'll keep it, and maybe make a Kydex one for it as well. Overall, this is a LOT of knife for well under 30 bucks. Is it a Loveless? Nope. But it isn't $3000 either, lol.Edited - Well it took me about an hour to get the grips fitted the way I like them, and to contour them to be VERY comfortable and secure. They are attached with Chicago type screws and come off easily if you have the right sized small Torx bits. Upon removal, I can confirm that this is indeed a solid one piece tang. A simple few swipes with 400 grit paper, followed by a felt wheel on my Dremel tool (at medium speed) did the trick. The blade is literally shaving sharp after spending about two minutes on my home made strop. I now HIGHLY recommend this knife.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with this knife
Overall I'm pretty impressed with this knife. However there was one major issue with it, that being that the temper one the edge was ruined when they sharpened it. I don't know if this is a problem with just mine or if it's a problem for everybody. But that aside the overall construction is quite good and the blade is very thick and heavy which makes up at least partially for the issue with the tempering.

This may be the best knife made by M-tech
I just received this knife and have fallen in love. I wear size large gloves and the handle fit me perfect; extra large sized hands might want a longer handle. But for me, this knife is perfect - thick blade, sharp, 440C which I like and have had good experiences with, nice balance and heft to the knife. It weighs about a pound but again, great balance. I know a lot of people get super sensitive about sheaths and will never be satisfied (if it is Kydex, they want leather and if it is leather then they want Kydex and oh no, not a ballistic nylon sheath!!!) but I like the one provided. This knife is very comparable to the Schrade fix blades of late, but at $25 is one heck of a bargain. I will attach some photos and let them do a better review than I could with words and show a couple other brands for size comparisons.

Beautiful design but so dull
Beautiful design but so dull, can't cut anything. After taking it to a sharpening service it still wasn't sharp. It is my guess that has to do with the blade material.

This knife is nice. Really nice for the price
This knife is nice. Really nice for the price. Arrived reasonably sharp. Sheath has a pick for a sharpener and you could probably fit a fire starter in there too. It will attach to the back of something with molle webbing but the straps dont work too well. the molle strap starts at the top of the belt loop, and the belt loop isnt ridged so it just flops over under the weight of the knife. The only other thing some people may dislike is the handle is kinda square. You could probably round off the plastic part of the handles with sand paper. Im going to give it a try.The knife does have a nice weight and feel to it and id say for the price this is a great deal.
