Original Biltong Big Bag High Protein Healthy Snack Made from British & Irish Beef by The Original Biltong Company (250 g, SmokyBBQ)

I'm a regular buyer of biltong, and thought I'd give 'The Original Biltong Company's' biltong a try.So happy I did! I have now tried all 4 flavours from them - Original, Piri Piri, Garlic and Smoky BBQ, and this is by far the best. Definitely buying again.The biltong itself comes as very long, thin uniform strips, as if they marinade and cure their biltong as slender cuts of beef. Personally I find this has made it some of the nicest textured biltong I've eaten in a long time, and it's not too dry, and not too wet. Just perfect.As for the flavour, I think their Smoky BBQ is by far the best... not too overpowering but you can tell it's there, and it's so tasty. Highly recommended. 5 out of 5.Regarding the other biltong flavours I've tried in the brand.ORIGINAL (4 Stars) - Perfect biltong with a lovely tasty, but I prefer my taste level a little bit higher, thus I generally buy flavoured biltong.GARLIC (4 Stars) - Again very nice biltong, but I found the flavour very wishy washy, & hardly noticed much difference from the Original biltong. I often buy garlic biltong, but this brand's was simply too subtle.PIRI PIRI (2 Stars) - Such a disappointment. The number one biltong flavour I buy in other brands (Cruga, Ember, etc) is Chilli flavour, and I enjoy them very much. This though was WAY too hot. You eat just a few pieces of the beautifully made biltong, and your mouth is burning for the next 5 minutes. Just feels like it's not right to go and ruin lovely biltong with overpowering heat.

Currently I've tried all 4 flavours of bilong from 'The Original Bilong Company', and unfortunately this is my least favourite.For starters the quality of the biltong they make is really good. Sliced in perfect little strips with a perfect texture. Not to hard, not to soft. Just right for me.Sadly when it comes to their Piri Piri flavoured biltong, they amount of heat is just ridiculous.My favourite biltong in the shop brands (Cruga, Ember, etc) happens to be chilli, but it a background heat, letting the base biltong still shine through.With this biltong the Piri Piri is full force and hides the natural taste of the biltong, and just a few pieces (for me at least), kept my mouth burning for 5 mins. Such a shame.To counteract the poor review I'm giving here I'd like to point out it just for this 'Piri Piri' flavour.Their 'Smoky BBQ' flavoured biltong is an easy '5 out of 5' from me, and I've ordered more of that today.Whilst their Garlic & Original flavour I give 4 out of 5 stars.

Lovely quality biltong! Not too dry, not too soft, and comes in things strips. Very nice.The loss of one star is purely because I think the garlic flavour is a little too subtle. Could be stronger, as it's taste barely different from the 'original' flavoured biltong.My current favourite flavour in this biltong range is 'Smaoky BBQ' that's a 5 out of 5 from me. Try it.

I like really like hot sauce and eat a lot of it. But this is biltong and for me it shouldn't be this spicey. I just can't enjoy the flavour as the bite gets in the way. Which is a pity because under that I can taste there is good quality for a good price.

I was send some tasters of this and it was absolutely delicious, a strong garlic powder (almost hot) all over it, that was pungent and would hit your taste buds. This batch was very soft, had a bad taste and didn't even have a hint of powder. Was confused

We bought this with billtong sticks at the same time, The sticks were plain and nice, eaten by everyone. We bought these as snacks for everyday and for school lunch boxes. We all found these very spicy which meant the children wouldn't have any, and my husband ended up eating all of the packets by himself. They were the same flavour as the sticks so i am not sure why they were spicy. Would not order these again.

Best biltong in the UK!

Delicious Bilton and comes in the prefect size to help with portion control. Only downside is the price which works out at about £60/kilo.
