works fine
as a beginner lockpicker i cant say much, as any issue i may have faced could be an issue of my own skill.what i will say is that the build quality of most of the things in this set is good for the price. the cases especially are very nice. the lock visibility shields are also made of rubber and are a small bit fragile, so that is something to keep in mind.i also found the padlock very easy to open with the gold handle double sided rake, though i might have just gotten very lucky with the pin arrangement.

A fun skill to learn
It was a bit of fun to learn, the locks are a good quality while being clear, it let's you see the individual pins while having a range of picks so you can see how different things fit in the locks and affect pins to find the best way to open it. It helped me open some bits at work to change the locks instead of getting a locksmith out, great value

Better than a Playstation or Xbox
Bought these for my son for Christmas as he was always head in the xbox or playstation. Well i can say its probably one of the best things Ive ever bought. He spends hours playing with these and has now moved on to real locks. Great package everything you could need to learn lock picking and with the help of youtube you to can master the art. They are a really sturdy construction and being able to see the mechanics inside the locks really helps. Great starter kit .. Brilliant

Great little set
Great quality locks and picks. Very easy to use, some of the "covers" from the locks could be a little bigger to hide more of what's going on.Great value for money to pick up a hobby or just to see how locks work.Within the fist hour I had managed to successfully open one of the locks a few times. The booklet is useful but there are hundreds or youtube tutorials if you need more guidance.

The instructions could be better
The kit is ok but the plastic handles have sharp edges and one cut my hand. The set is good but the instruction book is not very good

The picks are good for the money; the locks are strictly for novices
I recently ordered a second set as a present. I still think they're great value and my original review (below) still stands:I'd say this is excellent value for money if you're a complete novice like me, i.e. you don't have a clear idea of how a pin tumbler lock works. In that case the three locks in this kit will quickly show you the basics. As other reviewers have said, you won't learn a great deal more because they are so easy to pick, so you'll need to supply your own locks if you want to progress. The manual supplied has some helpful diagrams but the text is useless. Try the many excellent YouTube videos instead. After a couple of hours of practice you should be able to deal with cheap padlocks, bike locks, cash boxes and window locks, even if they take a long time. Picking good-quality locks is much harder and will take a lot of practice – but this hobby is clearly addictive. I think this kit would make a great gift for anyone over the age of 10.From what I've read so far I think the tools are of reasonable quality. The steel is springy and extremely hard. They have sharp edges, so you should really clean them up with fine sandpaper. I think the handles mimic those on Peterson picks, which cost about US$8 each. It's a good way to decide which tools you need before investing in better-quality ones later. All the picks are 0.7 mm (0.027 in.) thick. "Standard" US picks seem to be 0.025 in. and some European locks seem to have a reputation for needing narrower picks (0.020 in. / 0.5 mm), so I guess these are going to be too wide for some locks. In the set are 3 hooks (including a very square one that probably has its own name), 2 half diamonds; 1 snowman, 1 broken key remover, 1 city rake, 2 Bogota-type rakes, 1 snake-type rake and 1 small rake whose name I don't know. I'd like to see a review by someone who knows what they're on about. The tension wrenches are a bit basic, and I struggled to use them at the top of the keyway on the real locks I've tried. If I were to buy (or make) more tools I'd probably start with those.

Decent
The whole picklocking set is good, definitely nice for training and learning. It's pretty portable with its little casing too. Looks quite nice. But my problem is that the locks get very flimsy after a few uses and the regular padlock was flimsy out the box. Other than that it's an amazing set

Nice set for a lock picking adventure
I recently purchased this lock picking kit for my aspiring junior detective, and it's been an unexpected delight! Here's the lowdown on why it's a game-changer:Pros:1. **Educational Fun:** Forget video games – this lock picking kit is like a hands-on puzzle that teaches problem-solving and patience. My little one is mastering the art of unlocking while developing critical thinking skills.2. **Quality Tools:** The kit comes with sturdy, kid-friendly tools that aren't flimsy. It's like introducing them to a mini locksmith workshop (or jnr prison break?), minus the locksmith license!3. **Parental Bonding:** Who knew lock picking could be a bonding experience? It's become a family affair, and I get to share my "wisdom" on the art of unlocking (while secretly learning from my pint-sized prodigy).Cons:1. **Supervision Required:** While it's fantastic for skill development, keep an eye on your little lock picker. It's not a set-it-and-forget-it activity – safety first!2. **Missing "Mission Impossible" Soundtrack:** Okay, maybe that's just a personal wish, but wouldn't it be awesome to have some spy music playing in the background? In summary, if you're looking to foster curiosity, patience, and a touch of spy intrigue in your child, this lock picking kit is a winner. Just don't be surprised if they start offering to unlock your doors – they're mastering the art faster than you think! 🔐🕵️♂️
