It is one of a kind. I am from Kerala , also have same author's malayalam book.Please don't buy any other book about kalaripayattu. All other books now available in market is just information about the art , and no techniques are detailed.Though this book does contains contain all techniques (more than 3000 in the syllabus) it contains most weapons techniques except urumi and katari.

It is the second edition of the original book but this edition was published on awful grey paper with bad quality pictures. I bought it as a replacement for my first edition book (which was not brand new when I got it) it did not stand any comparison. If you have the first edition of the book, even old and shabby, stick to it.

Although the photos are much too small . if need to, just use a magnifyng glass[ no pun intended ] because the content of the book is very very good and unlike all the other books on this art the author shows you a lot of information that has never been shown before. This is a fine book well worth having and one that you can learn from. There is enough information in this book it to keep you busy for a long long time, and if you consider the fact that there are almost no schools in our country that teach this in the authentic form you will want this book, finally someone has produced a work on kalaripayattu that is worth having, all the others seemed to exploit the fact that there was a huge interest in this, but they only show superficial things you can get on you tube . this book takes you deep into the art written by one of the greatest masters that ever lived , who broke with tradition to share with us this magnificent form of physical culture and and awesome self-defense method .
