Cooks sorta. Decorative wallpaper comes loose -- if it doesn't actually arrive that way.
This little grill WILL fry your pork belly, sear your pineapple slices or barbecue your jumbo shrimp one at a time, but ONLY if you lay the food flat on the grill. There's just not enough heat to cook anything threaded on a skewer. Don't get fooled: the cutlet shown in the photo is either raw inside, or it was NOT cooked on that grill. (I think this constitutes false advertising.) Last, be aware that the decorative writing is on a glued-on piece of paper. The glue smells plasticky when you heat up the grill enough to cook anything. My grill arrived with the decorative paper already peeling. Heating the grill made the peeling worse. I finally scraped the whole thing off. It was a tedious job -- a lot like removing old, partially hanging wallpaper. With the decorative paper cleaned off, I now I have a small cement block that holds charcoal, and sort of cooks. For $10.00 this would be a fair deal. But $30.00? The word "ripoff" floats to mind.

Did not get hot enough to cook on
I liked that the grill fit into my fireplace well so I did not heat the house nor did I give myself carbon monoxide poisoning. I live on the 4th floor and do not have a place to barbeque or grill outside.I had to research one what type of charcoal was needed and finally found I could use regular briquets and only need three at the most. I started the grill, but I could place my hand on the top and felt little heat.

Poor quality
Not sure why anyone would produce a Japanese style grill that is decorated with PAPER! The design is not painted as mentioned in the description. It is literally thin paper glued to the grill. I'm sure it will wash off if it doesn't first catch fore while using it. Returning it.

There’s a first time for everything…
I’ve never had a product completely fall apart after only using it 3 times but, this is the first! I was enjoying the grilling experience until it began to crack and then break; as you can see in the pictures. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to send it back so, money and time lost here. I’m definitely going to be more diligent in understanding the product materials before purchasing in the future.
