Good Story, Well Told
Good 'soft' sci-fi story with interesting characters dealing with all the usual human flaws, in settings that add their own challenges.

An Enjoyable Story About Colonization
This is the first book that I've read by this author, and I enjoyed it a great deal. I finished it in two days when it normally takes me a week to complete a book. We get to spend a brief amount of time on a dying Earth, then some time on a spaceship headed to a new world, and finally we experience the new world itself. I love stories that include these elements. It's a fast paced book with lots of action. The only caveat I have is that the villain of the story seems almost cartoonish in his depiction. I keep thinking of Gru from despicable me. LOL. There is a sequel coming so I'm excited to continue my adventures on this new colonized planet.

Characters You Will Fall in Love With
I was enthralled from the very beginning because immediately, the author created a gritty, lonely, and forlorn world such as I would imagine on Earth 50-100 years down the road. This Book Is all about its characters who were remarkably developed to the point where you literally hated the evil ones with seething rage and loved dearly those who were doing good or even loved those somewhere in between. The descriptions of the alien species on Galena also blew me away. I felt as if I was there, literally there. What an amazing world created! The Sci-Fi element is almost an afterthought, because I was so interested to know the fate of the main characters. Such brilliant writing, to me, is the hardest thing to achieve -where we focus more on the characters and less on the Sci-Fi. I can't wait for the sequel.

Greetings Mr Best!
I truly enjoyed reading your novel "Another World" and look forward to reading other books you have written. I appreciate your style and the way you avoid using gratuitous violence and use only limited vulgar language to describe your characters thoughts and emotions. So many times I have become disappointed in authors who seem to revel in using characters that demonstrate an inability to express sed trong emotions without resorting to unnecessarily crude and ignorant styles of speech. Such language always reminds me of adolescents that have limited intelligence and low self-esteem. I rarely continue reading such drivel. This is a read I would really enjoy a sequel of!Sincerely,Carl [email protected]

There’s nothing wrong with this novel but it fell completely flat for me. The central issue is my inability to suspend belief which is mandatory for such a novel. For example, we’re in a time when overpopulation has exhausted the Earth leaving the planet full of welfare masses some of whom are desperate enough to try a longshot a one-way migration to a semi-hostile planet. Tickets for this interstellar craft aren’t tied to the purchaser so a treacherous thief can sneak aboard by robbing a current ticket holder. Does that seem like a possible scenario? It sure doesn’t to me.Once aboard a starcraft, the thug can run amok terrorizing the passengers running his extortion racket without even the slightest interference. Again, does that seem possible? Then, on the planet having arrived in an unexpected manner, some passengers need to embark on an exploratory journey but the characters, aside from the criminal, are drawn so flat that despite them having some adventures, I found myself unmoved by any of them.In the end, the planet is boring; the sole bad guy’s schemes are laughably unbelievable while the good guys or neutrals are tedious. Nothing much to see here.

Scruffy Colonization
Earth is in bad shape and attempts at colonizing a new world are being attempted on the cheap. Best’s strength is in writing flawed characters who are making do with their situation while immersed in an alien environment. An entertaining read. Looking forward to the next book.

Not exactly hard science but compelling.
The world is a hungry dismal place in this story. A great setup for having to leave. The male characters were very well crafted. The female characters.... not so much. I’m really looking forward to the sequel and hope to read it soon. I believe that female characters will have to be much more prevalent in the next book because Man does not live on soy alone.

Sequel, Please!
After reading the first two books of the authors Infinate Sky series, I. decided to read his standalone book, Another World.. Although I throughly enjoyed the first two of the Infinate Sky series, I personally enjoyed this story more.. Perhaps it's the fact that my favorite type of Science Fiction story is typically about new, or lost worlds, where people must join together in order to be successful and survive in an alien environment, and this book did so with perfection. In fact so much so, that I'd enjoy seeing a sequel to the book, perhaps set a decade in the future, to see how the characters have endeavored to survive their strange new and fascinating world...........

A unique view of survival in a new world
Liked Sam's take on where the Earth ends up and leaving. Happening faster than we think. Was fun wrapping the cast of characters together and a fun antagonist, Tulliver, will be missed. But who is next? Can't wait!

Thoroughly enjoyed this different take on the genre
Thank you Mr.Best for keeping me enthralled in your lovely adventure. I’m not sure what book your critics were reading but I doubt it was this one. I enjoyed the characters; some still to be fleshed out (I hope!) and some you can identify with more closely. You gave us just enough description to work with so our imagination could conjure up the world and the characters. It put me in mind of the Jules Vernes adventures I read when I first was enthralled by sci fi. I can’t wait to hear how Merritt and Gavin get on and what new wonders they encounter. Well done..
