Zojirushi SM-KC48VD Stainless Mug, Bordeaux, 480ml

I love the color, it's a nice size for me personally, the lid comes apart so it can actually be cleaned (not something to overlook, in my experience). Most importantly - the insulation is ridiculous. Borderline violates the laws of physics, with how well it retains heat.

Everything about this thermos is better than average. Over the years I have purchased at least 10 for friends and family. They ALL love it. It's by far the best thermos I've ever used. The size is just right. It's easy to hold with one hand, easy to open with one hand, easy to drink with one hand and easy to lock and unlock with one hand. It keeps a hot beverage hot for the full work day. It easily keeps a cold beverage cold for 24 hours. It's durable and easy to clean. I have one that I've been using for several years. I am a verified buyer. I use this product. I'm receiving no incentive to write this review. My motive for writing this review is to share my experience and hopefully it will help someone find a thermos that serves their needs.

This is my second one (one designated for coffee, one for tea). I have used it for my coffee everyday for years, even at home. I refuse to drink hot beverages from anything else. I have been through almost every other major travel mug on the market, and this is what I've stuck with. It's just the right size, the most comfortable for sipping, and the best at retaining heat and not leaking I've ever encountered. It stays hot for as long as it takes me to finish my coffee for the day. It never leaks, even when carelessly tossed in a giant purse on long NYMTA commutes involving jostling buses, subways, and everything in between.That is, if you follow ALL of the instructions for use and care. If you overfill it, it will drip, so don't do that! I had washed all the parts of my first one in the top of the dishwasher for years with little problem, but the instructions say, and I now strongly recommend, hand washing. The stainless steel (my first model) lost some of its outer sheen, which I didn't care about. But after 5 years of dishwasher abuse, the lid's lock eventually cracked on me. I was able to purchase just the lid from the company website, and have now committed to hand washing as the instructions insist. It's worth that extra 2-minute effort per day!

Okay so who really needs another insulated drinking vessel? With all the portable potables out there the vast array is dizzying and the idea that somehow I will be away from a source of liquid sustenance for a sustained period of time -- say getting lost in the desert or stuck in a 3 hour long traffic jam on a 5 lane highway--is minimal in most of our lives. Perhaps you are a hiker and need to take large quantities of survival gear with you so there's that. But for the most part we are all just a few steps away from potable liquid. But I digress. This particular drinking vessel happens to be the very best. We bought in two sizes. Keeps hot stuff hot. Cold stuff is cold. Easy to carry around. Handsome on whatever surface you put it on.

THIS. THERMOS. I was a hardcore Stanley fan until the latest one I purchased was leaking. Many people at my job have this thermos and I am so so glad I let peer pressure get the better of me. It holds just as much as the Stanley in 2/3 the space and keeps everything just as hot! The lid took a little getting used to, I didn't like it in my face at first. But I use this thing every single day. I don't know what I would do without it. At this point I take it equal parts because its more economical to take my own tea, but also because this thing may save me someday in the case of a routine apocalyptic Subway shut down and I'm stuck in a tunnel with a bunch of angry New Yorkers and no Wifi.Some people don't like all the little parts that come apart- I love it. I really love strong milky tea so being able to take apart and clean out all the little pieces from time to time is awesome!

This is a quality item. Took this thermos with me fishing on the boat for 5 hours in 40 degree air temperature. When I got home 2 hours later the remaining coffee was still hot. The double locking lid prevents accidental spills. No leaking around the seals either. This is a well designed thermos. TIP: Pre-heat the thermos with a cup of boiling water for 5-10 minutes, empty, then refill with the hot coffee. You will have hot coffee all day. Highly recommended.

I love these mugs! I have 3 and use them every day, primarily for water. I've had a few different mugs, with different openings. What I love most is the lip or opening on the lid. The liquid has a nice flow and is more comfortable than drinking out of a cup or other mugs where you sip through a straw. The lid has a lock on it, too. Somehow water tastes better in this mug. Two of mine are this size and one is a bit larger. I like this size most. I do refill it several times a day. It holds the cold temp for a long time. I haven't used it for heated liquids.

This is the second Zojirushi we've bought, and the third we've owned. Nice styling, easy sip, and amazing insulation. Make coffee at 8 and it's still too hot to drink at 11. My wife can finish sipping on the way home!

this flask is unbelievable at keeping drinks hot.I wanted a drinks flask that could keep a drink hot for about 3.5 hours. I originally bought a camelbak forge but the drink was tepid by the time I wanted to drink it.this flask keeps the heat too well. I have to put some cold water in with the hot when I make the drink, otherwise after 3.5 hours it's too hot to drink.to test it when I first got it I filled it with boiling water at 9.00pm one night and at 4.00pm the next day the water was still hot. if it'd been coffee it could have easily been drinkablethe colour of the flask to me is a dark burghandy. on Amazon it looked black but it's not.it did have a bit of a smell at first but I filled it a few times with hot water and washing up liquid and rinsed and now it's ok.highly recommendedDarrenEdit... as another reviewer has said I have noticed now I have had it a few weeks that the paint does chip of easily from the outside (even though I have been extremely careful with ut) it still looks good however. I think the chips happened in my rucksack for work or in the sink when it was being washed
