Excellent Product!
I have one of these and I love it! It is a real benefit to those of us who perspire when playing but don't want to deal with the hassles of a cloth. Luthiers can apply film protectors to the bottom bout, but the protruding lips of the top and back are still exposed and can soak up perspiration, and this alone will weaken the glue. Plus, film protectors do not block warmth from the skin, nor do they protect the skin from the posts of the chinrest. The Stradpet does all of this. You have to use the chinrest that comes with the unit. The outer edge of the Stradpet has a little pocket sewn into it. Tuck the outer lip of the chinrest into this pocket, and this is all that is needed to keep the Stradpet firmly attached. After I started using it, I heard an odd "creaking" sound. I determined that this was the bottom of the Stradpet rubbing against the back of my instrument. I got some of those adhesive felts like you put on the bottom of flower pots to prevent them from scratching the surface of tables. After attaching a few of these to the inside surface of the Stradpet that was rubbing my violin the creaking ceased. Very simple repair.I was shocked to see that the price on Amazon is $150!!! I bought my unit from AliExpress.com for $55!! Less than $4 standard shipping and handling. Standard shipping is on a slow boat from China, and you will have to wait several weeks. They have expedited shipping for about $20.Amazon sells the "Guarneri" style, which has a high back edge and deep cup. I wanted something with more gentle curves, so I bought the "Strad" style. The Stradpet company also makes a flatter "Ohrenform/Berber" style. To get these other styles, you will have to buy on AliExpress.com. I had a very good buying experience from them. No problems at all.My violin fits in my case with the Stradpet on it, although the fit is a tad more snug. This is an excellent product that I would buy again!
