8 Year Old Homeschooling Girl Loves This Book
My 8 year old daughter has recently been reading the various American Girl Series, and I found this new series for her to try. Here is her review of the second book in the Sonrise Stable series:I have read the first 2 books in this series and think this series is even better than the American Girl books! In "Carrie and Bandit", the family celebrated Carrie's adoption and went on a hiking trail. While they were hiking, their grandmother was riding a horse, and she fell off a cliff. Grandmother's leg was broken. She went to the hospital. The horse hurt her leg too, and it seemed like she had also fallen through a hornet's nest. The family took great care of grandmother and the horse while they were healing. I really like how their family reminds me of ours. They are Christians and also homeschool. It is fun reading about the different adventures in this series. This is a very good book that you should read!

Sonrise Stables Book 2: Carrie and Bandit
The second book in the Sonrise Stables series comes with many surprises. Many changes come to Carrie. How is she going to keep up with them all? Grandma has gotten a new puppy and has a surprise waiting for Carrie. But will Carrie ruin it all by stealing? How will Rosie's parents feel? Carrie's new horse Bandit has been acting foolish, will he ever straighten up? Or will Carrie have to get a new horse? The fair is coming real soon. Will Carrie and Bandit ever get their problems straight before it's too late? Or will they miss it all?I think the main thing I love about this book is how everyone still loves and cares for Carrie no matter how much she acts up. I believe the main highlight of the book is how hard it is for Carrie to adjust to this new life. Spiritually and Physically. I know how hard it is to try something new. Like I did trying to adjust when my brother Hunter was born. I didn't understand I was only five years old. And when I first got saved I felt renewed and different. I didn't know whether to jump and squeal out loud or run crying to my room. It was all just new to me. It seemed no matter how hard I tried I still couldn't understand. My parents helped me through it, though. Which was a blessing.A Little About The Author:Vicki Watson's love for horses began when a teenage neighbor offered her a ride, on the back of her horses. From her 8-year- old perspective, it seemed like the biggest horse in the world. Horses were to become a very important part of her life, although she could never have imagined it at the time, how much God would teach her about Himself about Himself and his relationship to Him through these wonderful animals. She has been blessed with three daughters and homeschooled each of them through High School. She enjoys trail riding with her Rocky Mountain mare (Nikki) hiking, photography, and playing guitar. She works from home as a computer programmer and enjoys the variety and flexibility that it allows. If you would like to learn more about her other books at [...]. Oh and don't forget to look at the jewelry inspired by the books, while your there.Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book/Ebook/Product to review. Family-centered horse story
Carrie and Bandit is the second book in the Sonrise Stable series. If you will recall from my review of Sonrise Stable: Rosie and Scamper , Sonrise Stables is purposefully spelled that way because Grandma (the owner of the stable) has a love of the Lord and wanted her stable to reflect that. Grandma's love of the Lord shines through in her desire to help not only her family but others in need.Readers were first introduced to Carrie and Bandit in the first book of the series. (Bandit was rescued from an abusive situation, and Carrie, the foster child of Grandma's neighbor, became friends with Rosie.) Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off - Carrie and Rosie are headed home from the fair with the rescued horse Bandit. Carrie and Rosie had just learned that Rosie's family was going to adopt Carrie. Needless to say, the girls are rather excited about both events.Just as in Rosie and Scamper, the family unit continues to play a key role in the story. The girls are not left up to their own devices. Instead, they are taught responsibility under the guidance of parents, grandma, and other adult family members. The girls are expected to complete their responsibilities before they are allowed to have fun. In this book, Carrie does something wrong and is afraid that the family will no longer adopt her. The parents (and later Grandma) talk to her to gain a better understanding of the situation without embarrassing her in front of other family members. The style of the conversations allow the author to seamlessly weave spiritual truths into the story. The realistic horse experiences and information continue to enhance the story. The addition of a puppy to the story line added a few more chuckles - especially if you have gone through training a puppy of your own. Carrie and Bandit concludes with a spiritual topic lesson, a horse training tip, and information about Lost Acres Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation which all tie directly into the story. These stories are a quick read, but they're sure to be enjoyed by any horse lover in your home. If you're looking for a good horse series for your child that encourages Biblical teachings and a strong family unit, this series is for you.Disclosure: I received a copy of the above mentioned book to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review. A positive review is not guaranteed, and all opinions are my own.
