Q: how many layers of plastic can you put into the channel (like will it hold the front as well as the side in a single channel?)

It is designed to hold two layers. Each layer needs its own wire so you do one at a time. You will need to order extra wiggle wire, not extra channel. The 2nd layer takes a little extra effort, you have to keep the wires "out of phase" so they don't run directly on top of each other. It worked great on the top and end sections of my hoop house, tight as a drum. I don't think a 3rd layer is possible.

Q: I found the very stiff wire often made holes in the greenhouse film where the wire pinched the film against the channel. Did I install it wrong?

You did nothing wrong. I also had rhe same problem. In fact i had to use a bolt cutters to cut the wire. There is a knack to it. If i was doing it again i would put the wire in the track for a few days to take the tension out of it

Q: How many actual feet of channel do you get?

We purchased 10 strips at 6.5 ft or 65 feet total, these were great to put our greenhouse back together after snow had broke down the frame. Only used on the ends of the greenhouse.
