Solid router with lots of features
If you want to get upgraded to the latest WiFi tech but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a router, this is for you! It's full of features and even the app is great for remotely controlling it. It's even more future proof since it supports the AI mesh system (which is useful should you require stronger signals in small corners of your house). Wholeheartedly recommend this.

Simple, strong, reliable
While mesh systems are great, the size and layout of my house (3 bedroom semi) didn’t call for one. Instead I set out looking for a standalone router solution and came across the ASUS RT-AX68U. It’s probably worth noting that this unit can also be used as part of a mesh if you need it to. It’s apparently also available in white, though I couldn’t find it anywhere. The RT-AX68U took over wifi duties from a dying VM Hub3, which was left solely to function as a modem. The setup process for the RT-AX68U was straightforward enough via the web interface, or you can also use the app. Certain setup processes can vary depending on ISP and it’s best to check their forums/support pages regarding using your own equipment beforehand. The increase in 5ghz coverage offered by the RT-AX68U versus VM Hub3 is night and day. So much so that I use the 2.4ghz band solely for legacy devices. I chose to split the 5 and 2.4ghz bands into separate SSID’s as a means of forcing iOS devices to use 5ghz but, the router is quite happy to broadcast both under one SSID.Through a bizarre set of circumstances, I have now used this router with VM’s 350, 500, and 1GB packages.350 & 500 - The router delivered full speed across the house using the 5ghz band when testing from a wifi 6 (AX) compatible device.1GB - Speeds peak at around 800 in close proximity and 600 further away. This though is what I expected from wifi 6 (AX) in the real world and isn’t a fault of the router itself.I’ve had this router up and running for a month now, in which time it has only been rebooted once and even that was only to install a firmware update. There is never less than 11 devices connected to it, and I’m yet to notice it breaking a sweat. If you’re looking for a reliable, solid, single router solution with a good mix of daily usability and advanced features then I can recommend the RT-AX68U.

So much better than supplied sky router
This may seem an expensive product to some. But what this brings to your home setup is fantastic. I have 500mb FTTP broadband. And through the supplied router from sky I would never get anywhere near the paid for speeds. I’d get 400mb if I was right next to the router. Anywhere else lucky if it was 200mb.Wow it so changed with the ASUS. As soon as set up was easily obtaining 500mb. Even in other rooms easily getting 400mb. Just be sure to update the firmware before you plug into the OTN. As you need to have option 61 enabled. Just Google it you will find loads of advise. Can’t recommend enough. Great product.

Massive improvement
Got this to improve my 1Gig Virgin broadband as the one Virgin gave me was rubbish. Did a bit of research and opted for this one. The difference is amazing, the range is far better, speed is far better all in all a massive improvement.

Great router
Easy to set up with a great app interface. Bought really to run it for VPN and for WiFi6. Both work really well. Can recommend.
